Camping along the way from 2019 Dynamax Owners Gathering

6/25/2019: We departed Massey’s Landing CG at 9:15 AM. Refueled at very busy Fly J North of Richmond, 81.3 gallons. Arrived at Zion Crossroads, VA via Richmond, VA. & I64 at 7:30 PM. There were several choices for overnight parking. A TS, a Wal-Mart, but the best was a Lowes store. We got permission from a manager to park overnight, and were given the phone # of the night manager of the store. Asked us to call in if we observed any questionable activity. Lowes shuts the gates from 10 PM to 5 AM, so we were not bothered by any noisy traffic in the parking lot that night. We deployed the slides. 271.1 miles, g/s 3.6 hrs.

6/26/2019: Ran I64 & I81 to Davy Crockett TS, Bailington, TN. We stopped in mid-afternoon and parked in the front, at the end where the Denny’s is located & RV parking is OK. We parked alongside the eastern fence. The view was elevated and overlooked I81 at some distance away. We deployed the slides. A great site, highly recommend it if you can snag this one. 307 miles, g/s 7.2 hrs.

6/27/2019: Ran I81 & I40 to Pilot TS @ I40 & Hwy 298, Crossville, TN. Parked parallel to curb at western edge of truck parking as there was no RV parking in front. Store manager said OK to park there. Truckers parked nicely and were courteous. They all missed us! Area where we parked was level and had a nice view of green fields & trees. We deployed the slides. Lefty’s BBQ is next to TS, within easy walking distance. Great pork BBQ & also beef brisket. 139 miles, g/s 8.2 hrs.

6/28/2019: Ran US 127, Hwy 8, & US 72 to Madison, AL. Arrived at 12:30 PM. Secured Fury in #712. 164.6 miles, g/s 0.0 hrs.

Total Run from Massey’s Landing CG: 882.6 miles, g/s 19.0 hrs.

Total Run to & from Gathering @ Massey’s Landing CG: 1,814.2 miles, g/s 34.8 hrs.

Maintenance, Repair, & Enhancement items 7/22/2019 to 11/29/2019

The summer of 2019 in northern Alabama was defined by long periods of temps in the upper 90’s and little rain. Fury spent almost the period in #712. The coach was periodically connected to shore power & the batteries kept charged up. Usually, Fury was in “cold iron” condition: no shore power, coach and engine batteries switched off, and main marine power switch off. Genset and A/Cs were run twice. The previous repair to the A/Cs data cable is holding up fine.

Plans to make repairs and enhancements were made during the summer. Three vendors visited Fury and two gave estimates for two secret projects. I awarded a contract for one project and it is in work. A second vendor says he is working on a quote but nothing to review yet.

I visited Steve (of Steve’s RV shop) to plan some work for Fury after cooler weather arrives. Steve ordered some parts ahead of bringing Fury to his shop. We began the work in mid-October and I worked with him for 11 days, usually from 9 AM to 5 PM each day. It was almost like a full-time job! Steve didn’t even charge me for helping.

Here’s what we did:
R&R LR HWH jack & jack pad + (locate HWH pump & manifold)
o As of 10/24/2019; Left Rear HWH jack, sensor wiring, and foot are now replaced. Refilled the reservoir. I now know how to adjust valves if I need to retract a jack.
o HWH pump, reservoir, and valve manifold are located in an area back of the RV steps at the RV side door. This repair was approx. $1,100
Fix windshield washer nozzles. Done 10/13/2019 by owner
 Inspect roof #1 vent (forwardmost vent) & repair if rain sensors are inop. It has failed to shut when rain began.
o As of 10/24/2019; inspection determined that the circuit board function controlling the rain sensor is inop. although all other functions still work.
o Now that Fan-tastic Fan Vent is owned by Dometic (brand name Coleman) the previous lifetime warranty is a thing of the past. An upgrade kit that contains a new sensor & circuit board is available. Cost is approx. $191 + shipping.
o Owner will clean sensor. Then limp along without rain sensor function if service effort fails. A new fan assembly to replace existing unit may be preferable and a better buy than the upgrade kit.
 Reattach trim piece for RF corner of bed
o As of 10/24/2019; this item is complete.
 Inspect rear slide’s upper seal which is out of place
o As of 10/24/2019, this item is repaired. Steve removed the out of place portion of the bulb seal and installed a new line of bulb seal.
 Replace leaking water line of black tank flush port.
o Due to construction of lower compartments and because the leak is thought to be caused by the water line from tank flush port to black tank; this item is abandoned. Access to the flush water line and to the black tank inlet is non-existent. The vacuum breaker is fully operational, so it is not the problem.
Repair TV cables, DVD connections, Satellite TV, cable TV, & Off-Air TV Feed, cable TV output @ Outside Entertainment Center. 80% completed, as of 10/24/2019
o Previous owner disconnected all cabling to TVs & DVD players. He replaced front TV with 35” LG smart TV. Only the feed from Sat TV receiver was connected to that TV.
o Bose DV player powers front surround sound (SS); none to rear. Researching to see if internal controls can port SS to rear TV & its Bose SS system.
o Blue ray DV player supports front TV, has no surround sound, TV speakers only. Don’t know how or if this player’s sound can interface with Bose SS.
o Front & rear TVs now get feed from TV antenna. We installed a new TV antenna power booster. (perhaps previous owner removed the TV booster?)
o We expect both TVs to get cable TV signal from park’s cable source, not verified
o Rear TV gets DV movie signal from Bose DV but no surround sound
o We expect the outside entertainment center’s coax outlet to yield TV & cable signals, but haven’t verified.
o We presume the front smart TV will be able to electronically connect to Sat TV signals if owner(s) elect to activate Sat TV system.
Check/Adjust Slide out Locks & Fix slide locks, some don’t work at all, some make noise but don’t engage. 70% complete as of 10/24/2019
o Rear slide’s front lock is broken, rear lock may be OK but needs bolt put into saddle. Will require proper attachment of wires & use motor to reduce tension
o Front slide’s locks work fine. There may have been a problem which led to damage at rear. Previous owner had disconnected wires to motors on 3 slide locks. We reconnected the wires. That was all that was needed on front slide.
o The locks can cause a lot of damage if not used correctly. Previous owner elected to do without the slide locks.
Maintain Aqua-Hot (R&R Filter & burner). Show owner how to do it.
o A-H filter R&R by Steve on 10-18-2019. Owner bought filter at Big Tent in Quartzite. This item complete.
o Owner will service combustion chamber & install the new burner screen (on hand) if A-H starts to smoke out of the exhaust pipe.
Check rear A/C unit. It makes a “knock” when compressor shuts off. Bolts holding the A/C to the roof are not loose.
o Fan motor may be worn. Will require replacement if it fails.
GenSet Auto Start System. Verify AGS module is good & show how to program it. A new AGS module may be needed.
o Note: an AGS module was found on 10-18-2019 behind Lower Control Panel, which is inside the coach & aft of Driver’s seat. The coach battery power switch is located on the Lower Control Panel.
o AGS module appears to be OK, the correct lights are on. As of 10/27/2019, the AGS has not started the genset, either via low voltage or by CCC calling for a/c’s to come on. May need setup on Xantrex control panel & Comfort Control Center
Install 12VDC/USB charging port & 12VDC receptacles (add SAE dangles)
o We installed a 12VDC/USB charging port into the cross-coach cable tunnel at the rear of the coach (in the bedroom). Thank you Dynamax for not installing the cabinetry over the top of the screws holding the tunnel in place.
o We discovered 12VDC power under the rear dinette seating in a cable bundle and ran 12VDC power cables through the dinette cable tunnel to underneath the front dinette seating. Owner will install a 12VDC receptacle into the front facing portion of the front dinette seat with an SAE dangle co-located.
o Second 12VDC receptacle intended for side of fridge cabinet likely won’t be installed due to lack of access. Perhaps another location will be found.
Repair loosened panels in cabinet by forward side of sofa. Cabinet houses systems control panel aft of driver’s seat. Some disassembly was necessary to fix panel. Steve made an excellent repair to these panels, while inspecting the AGS module.
 Fabricate a custom sized storage box to support forward 12VDC fridge carried forward of dinette forward seating position. Steve is building this item out of solid maple.

Total bill for all the above items: $2307.17. This total may seem like a lot, but there was a lot of time required to do this work. I also learned much new knowledge about the coach’s systems and gained more confidence in maintaining it.

Revised main entrance staircase for Fury

The original staircase of Fury, framed with original Grand Sport GT golden carpet with woven pattern. Note the built-in entrance lights.

The sides of the staircase are now trimmed in gray leather to match the newly installed carpet in Fury. The original factory entrance lights were replaced with LED theatre style lamps.

The leather trim on the entrance should be more able to withstand heavy blowing rains should we need to enter or exit the coach during heavy weather.

Much nicer. I fail to understand why anyone would put carpet in the "Mudroom" area.
