Grill for low pressure propane connection

I just bought this Smoke Hollow grill for our Isata 3 which is easily converted to use the low pressure propane connection. This grill has a wood chip smoker tray using a third burner which makes it easy to add smoke to whatever you are cooking. Made pork chops last night and fixing breakfast this morning using a Lodge griddle I bought to go along with the grill.

The grill comes with a short hose and regulator, just unscrew the hose from the grill and use the 12 ft hose shown in the links below which plugs into the quick connect.

Hey, this is also my story and I'm sticking to it. I’ve been using this grill for two years and am really pleased with it. I got my short pig-tail and 12' hose from a company in Houston.
Now I'm looking at your griddle!

Thanks for bringing another option to the low pressure grill/griddle arena and letting us know how it is working for you.

You'll likely get several posts as to what someone else has done and why you should have done what they did... but to each their own.

It is nice to have options and I appreciate the tone of your post to not include references to the infamous "best grill ever" moniker.

Thanks!

The griddle is flat on one side and grates on the other for searing or even grilling fish which may be too fragile for the normal grill racks. I love Lodge products and have several of their porcelain enamel Dutch Ovens and Cassarole dishes.

I’ve seen comments on grill and griddle conversions to LP. I’m looking for a good quality 2 burner stove to convert to LP. One that burners can be adjusted to various heat levels. I’ve tried several Coleman models but remain unimpressed. Have you found one you are happy with?

This grill has three separate burners, all adjustable. You can use the burner for the smoker tray only and turn it into an indirect smoker with no direct flame. Use one or both of the two side burners to adjust to the temp you desire. I have had it up to 400f just to burn in the new metal finish, but I am sure it will go low as well.

The grill I was using before this was the Coleman Roadtrip with the propane canisters. It was hardly adjustable at all with one burner. The Smoke Hollow grill weights substantially less than the Coleman as well. Fits in my lower side compartment like a glove.

Fixed chicken satay kabobs for lunch with peanut sauce. Excellent.

LP Stove recommendations

Milkman55 - Thanks for reply. I am looking for a good quality 2-3 burner LP stove for outside use, to boil water, cook eggs in pans etc. flex hose would connect to MH quick connect.

I studied your grill and ordered one myself - used your link.
Thanks!

I bought the camp chef ranger 2
Just connect directly to low pressure outlet. It’s an open burner similar to our open burner range at home. Easy to control flame. It doesn’t get hot underneath.

I converted a Weber Q to low pressure 5 years ago and love the grill! Probably not a recommended conversion but it works for me! I am sure there are liability issues!

I have a 1 burner and have been looking for a 2 burner to fit in the same compartment. This looks like the one!

OK. I looked this stove up (on Walmart's website) and see from the pictures it comes with a hose that has a regulator on the Acme nut end that screws into a high pressure tank. You can purchase another hose that fits the RV's quick-connect outlet.
So, am I correct in assuming this is a low-pressure stove? The quick-connect hose screws onto the stove, replacing the hose with the regulator? If'n I buy this bad boy, I can kick the small canisters to the curb?

I was reading the assembly instructions and they said that grill is heavy and you might need a friend to help. It's surely not that heavy is it?

I think that looks like a great grill. Thanks for sharing!

Yes, I installed a quick connect hose
Plug into low pressure outlet, works great
If it’s windy, I use a lighter instead of the sparker. I also bought a quick connect Y
So I can have both the stove and the Weber q
plugged into gas at same time and able to run both at same time.

Amazon shows the weight at 28 lbs, sounds about right. The Smoke hollow was much lighter than my old Coleman Roadtrip.

All stoves with a regulator are not low pressure as delivered. What we do is remove the regulator assembly to make them work as low pressure. They sell low pressure stoves suitable for RV use, but the market is so small that most of the nicely optioned stoves are outfitted with a pressure regulator. Some are easier to remove than others. The Smoke Hollow is very easy to convert to low pressure because the hose with the regulator just screws on to the stove with the same fitting that the replacement propane hose. All the propane on your RV is already regulated to low pressure, so that’s why you need to remove the regulator that came with the stove.

While we are talking low pressure, I just got another 12 ft hose and Y adapter so I can run my Smoke Hollow stove while also using my Firepit I bought last year. I just noticed the firepit has dropped to $99 from the $129 I paid last year. Great firepit which is accepted even in parks (Natl and State) where they have a burn ban in effect. The firepit is converted to low pressure in the same manner as the grill. Both the grill and firepit fit side by side in my driver side storage on my Isata 3. The 12 ft extra hose can also just be used to extend your existing hose to 24 ft. Handy if the logical cooking area is not 12 ft from the low pressure outlet on the RV.
