Grill recommendation

My DX3 Is all electric which I love. Hate carrying propane ever since owning boats. Previously I have always used gas grills buy I don’t want carry a propane tank with me. Can anybody recommend a small portable grill.

We love our Green Egg Mini Max. We have a large one at home, but use the mini max when camping. It cooks everything. You can use it as a smoker too. It weighs about 35 lb, but my husband and I usually get it on and off the truck together.

I have been using propane at home for 35 years.

For the fifth wheel I purchased the Weber Go charcoal grill and a Weber chimney to start the charcoal.

Gets going virtually as fast as a gas grill. No lighter fluid, just an old newspaper page. Charcoal goes out quickly when the grill is closed up.

Very portable. Perfect for two. Small size for storage. Rectangular. Cooks really well! Truly an excellent design. Lightweight.

Changed my mind about propane!

It depends on how big a grill you need/want. I use a Magma. Very well made. Very light and easy to store. They make several models.

I use our small Weber like above goes out and cools quickly. I just light it in the grill w lighter fluid, think I’ll look into the chimney

Love our davey crocket green mountain grill pellet grill/smoker. It lives in the truck during camping season and goes on the patio adjacent to the bigger version for those times I need to cook more food.

I don't have a lot of storage on my I 5 so I went with this. It's gas but uses the small propane tanks you can buy at Walmart for a couple of bucks. Cooks very well, it's compact, light and folds into a suitcase like format for storage.

As far as quality goes, it's hard to beat anything Weber puts out. I know the initial cost is higher, which kept me away for awhile, but the fact that they last so much longer than the cheaper stuff actually makes them a better deal in the long run.
The Weber Q series is really popular on this forum, and they can either use the portable propane cylinders or can be easily adapted to a trailer's gas line. Either way it's a wise investment.

I am still on propane and have recently discovered the wonder of the blackstone griddle. I dont even carry my grill anymore.

That said if I were to add anything to the mix it'd be an electric pellet grill/smoker. Seem's like that'd be a natural fit for an all electric coach. Traeger were the ones I've looked at but I know there are others. Charcoal is easy enough to source a spot at a campground to light up, not sure i'd carry something specific.

Though on that subject check out the solo stove fire pit. I carry one for the uppity campgrounds that dont provide a pit. Could definitely double as a wood fired grill with a grate added.

I’m fortunate to have propane so I went with the Blackstone griddle. I’ll never own another grill. I don’t know if there is an electric griddle out there, but that’s what I would look for if I was stuck with all electric.

Over the years I've tried all types, gas and charcoal, even electric. They all have their good and bad points. My present one is the Green Mountain Grills Davy Crocket pellet grill. It works great with an all-electric unit. It is a little heavy at around 55 pounds but I carry it in the back of the toad for ease. To be honest, I prefer it as a smoker but it does very well as a grill too.

I do miss the taste from a charcoal grill so I think that I need to check out some of those mentioned here. I've always been impressed with the Big Green Egg so a mini version might work. I've also never been disappointed in Weber.

We also love our Davy Crockett for camping. It runs on AC or 12V DC power, so as long as you’ve got pellets you’re good to go. Nothing beats BBQ over real wood flames. It also can be used as an oven, we bake Crescent rolls in it and cook bacon in it. We had a bigger Daniel Boone for a few years and like it so much we decided to get rid of our Coleman RoadTrip propane camping grill and get the Davy Crockett.

I have purchased a George Foreman Portable electric Grill.
It works great and is reasonable in price.
Plugs right in to the outside plug on the motorhome.
Also, stand and legs disassemble and store in small box in compartment.

we use Weber electric and it works excellent, never a problem with wind blowing the flame around. After cooking on it a while it gets seasoned and cooks chicken and steak very well.

Thanks everybody. Really good information. After reading all the comments and other reviews I’ve decided to go with the Webber Q1200 and use the small disposable Gaz tanks. It’s a little heavier than I wanted but it looks really well made and an excellent warranty.

I've tried many of grills over the last few decades & have settled on a Weber Q200. Since then there are newer models. Recently I removed the Weber regulator and added a quick-connect fitting to match the 12ft quick-connect hose that attaches to the Isata 3 quick-connect.
Weber Q is a great choice.

That's the model my S-I-L uses … along with others!!!! She's a small bbq/grill junkie. She really likes it. She also has the electric version of the same model. That's the one that I like. Her latest passion is for charcoal grills. She has a small square charcoal grill made by Weber, I can't remember the name or model, that is her latest passion. She grills four or five times a week, even when she's at home which isn't often these days.
