Buying and often paying more, locally is no promise of getting good warranty service. I bought a fifth wheel from a local dealer and the service was terrible. Hard to get a service appointment, waited forever, never finished the work and the quality of the repairs was awful..Large dealer who's only concern was selling new RVs. Prices weren't that good either. I bought my last one 300 miles away but would have gone farther for the right price. There is always a way to get things fixed...

I would try Durnell's RV in, Ohio.
They do out of state deals every day.
Good luck.

Or just post here/contact me directly. So we don't lose time while it sits on anyones desk waiting to be forwarded to me anyway. (At least for Dynamax stuff).

I live in Vermont, and just bough my RV in Ohio. No problem at all. People were friendly and very helpful. They pretty much did everything, even hooked it up to my truck after adjusting my hitch. Saved thousands over my local dealer by doing this.

I think you are in the best area for price. Try dealers in Indiana. It's my belief the closer you are able to purchase your rig where the rig is manufactured the better the price.
I bought a 2016 Grey Wolf Limited 26RR for $15,700 in MI. I called maybe a dozen dealers close to my home (Kansas) and they couldn't come close to matching the $15k price. Most wanted $18k or more and even the $18k price didn't have all the bells & whistles like the one I bought has, but they still called their's a Limited package.
Strange that the others dealers had these so called Limited models but didn't have same equipment/accessories, so be careful. In the RV dealer world apples in NOT apples...!!!

Motorhomes to go. Terry Town is the other name. I saved probably $10,000+ easy over Ohio and the others, plus a better value on the Thor trade in.

General RV is a big player in Mi. and I know they sell some Dynamax models. Can they get the DX3 or are the limited?

Whatever you do,do NOT buy ANYTHING from Haylett RV in Coldwater,Mi.My first clue should have been the screaming match that was going on in the parking lot (inside a new trailer) between the owners and someone at this dealership, but we bought there anyway and got jerked around on a warranty claim for 8 months before we ended up takeing it back to the factory (on our dime).

I drove 163 miles one-way to buy my last two campers at a high-volume dealership in another state. They were able to offer lower prices, inventory that hadn't been sitting outside through one or two winters, and even special order cheaper than my local dealerships. I also drove 4 hours to buy my pickup truck two states away, but that is because the F150's with the Heavy Duty Payload package are so hard to find and slow to have built. I would encourage anyone to drive anywhere to get what they want or need. With a truck dealership, however, you can expect warranty service anywhere. RV dealerships often refuse to do any work on a vehicle they haven't sold or put you at the bottom of the service list. I was lucky to find a good dealership for service, but it is still 120 miles away.

General RV is the dealer I use in Ohio for service and where I bought my Thor. But they only sell the Dynamax REV, last that I checked, that may have changed. There is a Camping World here that sells Dynamax, but they treated us horribly when we were looking, they really shot themselves in the foot, because they lost the sale of 2 motorhomes in a 2 year period.

I Live in Ark but bought two new Outbacks from Lakeshore RV in Mich, I did a through PDI that took several hours with them answering any and all questions. I never had one issue with either. And saved thousands over the local dealer here. If you are knowledable enough to do a through PDI you should be able to buy anywhere with the best price with confidence.

I just purschased a 2015 DX3 from a RV broker in Michaigan, when I went to my local DMV they collected the sales tax again on the RV.

The reason why is that in MI. The broker cannot have. His/her name on the title just the owner per MI. Law even though they collect the sales tax and have the document proof of it went to sectray of state in MI., my local DMV said that the law states in SC the dealer/broker name has to be on the title.

After calling the Department of revue in SC I was given a refund form and have request it.

Keep you update that has been the only issue I have had purchasing any Vechicles out of state

In my opinion, the answer to this question depends on the type of person you are. I would assume there is a reasonable chance that something will need repair during the warranty period.
Option 1. If you are reasonably handy and willing to fix minor things yourself and get a really good deal, then an out of state purchase is probably a good deal. Remember that the majority of the items in an RV ( fridge, AC, WH etc) are covered under manufacturers warranty and can be handled at any RV repair facility. Many times putting the savings in the bank and using them to pay for repairs out of pocket is in your benefit. A 15K AC unit is about $1000 and labor may be another $500 if totally out of warranty.
Option 2. If you are not at all handy and take pride in the length of your punch list. Buy local. Warranty will cover your repairs, but you may be frustrated with the process/wait.

If you do buy out of state, do a thorough PDI and plan a few days at dealer. Do not sign paperwork until repairs are made. I have seen dealers remove parts from other units in inventory to get the sale. That same part may take weeks or months or more to order and replace. In addition, I am not a big fan of leaving my RV on a dealers lot. They are usually way to crowded to insure nothing happens while jockeying units around.
Good Luck
