After verifying there was input voltage I talked to a tech at Sensata. Yup, it was fried. I ask him if it was made in China, and sure enough it was. He said that some of their larger inverters are made in the states. We had used the inverter for less than an hour total, short life! They replaced it under warranty. If they hadn't I'd be out $300+ bucks. They said they would charge my credit card $500 if I didn't return the old one
So about 3 days after talking to the tech, UPS delivered the replacement. It only took about 30 minutes to replace the inverter.
The old one had a red greasy substance on part of the casing.

Oh, one other thing, the battery disconnect does
not remove power to the inverter.
