Isata 3 owners

I assume the reason for a latch instead of magnets is to keep the battery's contained in a rollover situation.

For cosmetic reasons only, perhaps also look at magnets for the sewer hose, exterior gas connection, and dump valves doors. At least one of those hatches has managed to open while cruising down the road.

Wow, I have a rivet gun and never thought about using it. Rivets are perfect for this application.

The problem with magnets is if someone caught their foot climbing the stairs, it step could pop loose and cause a trip. I added the rivets today and worked perfect. Didn’t even need to redrled the holes, rivets fit just fine. No sharp point now on the inside near the batteries.

I guess this screw digging into the battery was a big enough issue for Forest River to send out a Technical Service Bulletin authorizing replacement of the screws with rivets. They allowed .34 hrs for the work. I beat the curve because it took me 5 min. Just get yourself a rivet gun kit at Home Depot for about $15 and the rivets slide right into the same hole as the screw. Just take one screw out at a time and the other holds it in place while you attach the rivet. Certainly not worth the time making an appointment with a dealer.

I requested it. Seeing that it is a simple fix, no reason to roll the dice and hope for the best...just get it corrected ASAP.

Interesting... we picked ours up on Thursday 12/14 and I noticed the screws and mentioned that the screws could be a problem if the batteries shifted. He suggested I notify the factory about it. It looks like it got missed twice, once at the factory and at the dealership too...I replaced the screws with rivets the next day....

1/8” sounds right. You should not even need to drill out the hole. Just remove the screws one at a time and replace with a rivet so the latch doesn’t move at all during the process.

Thanks
Some of the rivets longer than others. Guess I’ll find one that barely sticks out.

The rivets I used were labeled 1/8” x 1/8” just removed the top screw and riveted the top and then repeated the process on the bottom one. Next is to figure where and how to mount the Dish Wally satellite receiver and get it wired up....

Isata 3 satellite power questions

Hey I was wondering if you can tell me where the Winegard t4, gets it's 12volt power from on my 2017 Isata 3. I'm trouble shooting power getting to the T4. Also is the switch for the winegard on the inverter system also, I assume it is.

Thanks
Evan

Mine was an unterminated jacked pair coiled up in the cubby hole adjacent to the TV. It’s where the HDMI and audio/video cables (for the rear TV I think) come out.

If by “the Winegard” you mean the over the air antenna amplifier, there’s no need for an inverter connection, it too runs on 12VDC.
