Isata 5 36DS Toad weight question

I had flat towed a 2006 Miata (2500 lbs) for a short time and then switched to flat towing a 2013 Lincoln MKZ (3900 lbs) for another couple of years. I am now considering a GMC Canyon Crew Cab at 4600 lbs.

I realize the truck is rated at 10,000 lbs towing. But I do recall my horror when I switched from the Miata to the Lincoln. And then I got used to the additional weight and never looked back.

I am looking for some feed back, and advice from anyone towing 4500 lbs and up with their Isata 5.

Currently, using the tow/haul mode and exhaust brake. I rarely touch the brakes on the coach beyond the last few feet of stopping. True I drive like an old man. So, it is not the stopping distance that concerns me. It is the overall feel of that much weight back there on an everyday basis.

My hope is that I am over thinking this and I will not notice the incremental 700 lbs.

Thank you for any insight you may have

I towed a Jeep liberty that was 5300 pounds. No issues. You should use a towed brake system. I use RVI3

Switching to a Jeep grand Cherokee this year.

We flat tow a Toyota Sienna behind our Isata5 and haven't had any issues. Toyota says that it's ~4,000# and we easily load 500# worth of stuff in it (bikes, cases of water, blah blah blah). We're not going to win any races, but I am not trying to anyway.

I've never towed anything else, so I don't have anything to compare it to.

Jeep JLUR here, it's probably over 5K when I add all the stuff in the back as my extra storage. HEY, for the first time in my life on a 2K roundtrip to Nashville mostly on Interstates I drove like an old man. 60-64 on cruise all the way in 70-75 zones, it was so damn nice. I never had to worry except maybe twice about passing or shifting lanes, just sat there and let everyone go around me. It actually made driving way less stressful. Funny part was my 80 year old mom, kept saying why don't you speed it up a little so we can get there faster. LOL. I said no, this is peaceful, plus I used WAY LESS DEF, my mileage with generator on and two ac's (not sure if they affect mpg on the Ram calculator) went way up, between 10.5 and 11. For mine that was substantial. When I went to Florida on my Dmax from hell trip, driving 70-75, my DEF was flying and my mileage without genny or ac's was 9.0-10.0, averaging under 10.

I tow a 2015 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon and the back is loaded with extra supplies so it weighs in at probably 4,500 lbs. I've got about 20,000 miles on my I 5 and you don't know the Jeep is back there. You'll loose about 1 MPG towing.

Is that a tow dolly you have in front of the trailer?

were you having tongue weight issues, or just prefer the ride without the added weight?

LOL....I was wondering the same thing. I saw that set up and was like "uggghhhh, that is way overweight", then I saw a tire that looked like it was leaning against the A-frame.

I am shocked after all these years, that is the first time I have ever seen that. It would solve so many problems for people that tow way too much.

PS. I am so using that link. When people take about all the things they want to carry and there is not enough CCC to do that AND carry their trailer...they end up doing it anyway and cause issues. This would eliminate that.

I also have a Ram 2500 that I pull this trailer with without the trailer toad. The Isata 5 actually pulls it better.
