Do you guys think it’s better yeti buy an after market RV GPS or try to negotiate a deal an activating the Dodge nav system? Does the 5 need an RV GPS?

I drive a '14 RAM truck and I find that the RAM nav is much easier to use than the DX3 unit. I would activate it and keep going. I see no need for an RV GPS.

Did a quick search on line. Chrysler Uconnect 8.4A (RA3) Activation | HERE You do not have to go to a dealer. Thought I saw some hits on ebay also. (kind of expensive!)

We use the Garmin RV760LMT with the wireless backup camera. Mounted the camera in the back window to watch the toad. There are numerous reviews online about it and other brands you can check. It takes care of the lack of rear view when driving and you can enter the weight, length and height of your RV for routing. I also like it because you can take it in the living area of the RV and and do route planning for the next day comfortably.
A note on the Chrysler/Jeep/ram maps system. We have it in our 17 Cherokee we tow. When we search for things (for example antique shops) it has led us astray quite a bit. It has always worked fine if you have the address of where you are going. I assume poor data base for the errors.

Thanks for the info. Leaning towards an after market. Maybe Brian can chime in, on the latest version Isata 5 can the user select the rear camera and leave it on?

yes. All the ones building now have a completely separate back up camera system.
