LED Ceiling Lights

Does anyone know if the LED ceiling lights in a 2019 Isata 3 can be dimmed with an aftermarket dimmer? I know that not all LED’s will take a dimmer. I tried to install dimmers on the over-the-bed lights, but they didn’t work, and I’m not sure if I had the wiring wrong, the dimmer switches were defective, or they are LED’s that can’t be dimmed.

There's other threads on this site of guys trying to install dimmers. Everything I read seems to point to needing a 3 wire dimmer for it to work properly.

The dimmer I tried to install had 4 wires...+in, -in, +out, and -out. My assumption is that the -in and-out are ground wires, the +in is the always hot battery feed, and the +out is the switched hot out to the light.

But you're better off reading about people who have done it. Here's a recent thread. Use the search window to find more. http://www.forestriverforums.com/for...ry-178031.html

Problem solved. The switch tested OK, and the LED lights are dimmable. Hats off to Dynamax for making the wiring accessible. The four wires per light are:
1-always hot into the switch
2-always to ground out of the switch
These two are so that the switch can be illuminated at all times, even when the lights are off.
3-hot out to the light
4-return from the light

What switch did you use?

Made by RecPro...got it on Amazon, however I just checked and it says “currently unavailable”. It was $30. I liked it because it was exactly the same size as the factory double switch in my Isata 3 FWS, is illuminated, holds the brightness setting
when turned off and on, and is basically a flat plate that won’t protrude and catch on the mattress when it is lifted to get into the below-bed storage compartment.

I searched amazon and couldn't find it. Do you have the URL?

This company - www.rvlighting.ca/en/ - from Québec City, Québec has great products that will make any fixture dimmable. (you do need to get dimmable LED's, too, if you don't already have them).

None of the fixtures in my TT are controlled by a wall switch - they all have a rocker switch on the fixture itself so you have to get up to turn any of the lights on/off. I bought several of these - http://www.rvlighting.ca/en/eco-led-...ith-lead-wires. You splice the controller into the light fixture wiring and the wireless remotes can be used anywhere in the coach. I stuck the remote for the light over the dinette to the wall at the end of the table (used velcro) and now we can turn the light on/off and dim or brighten it while sitting at the table. The little spot reading lights over the bed were especially bad. You had to almost get out of bed to reach the switch to turn them off. Now when I am finished reading I just reach over to the night shelf and grab the remote. Nice. Great quality stuff and they work great, too.
