Hi David,

Just wondering if you picked up your rig and how it is going. I just walked through one today and noticed that there were a set of small nightstands in the one we saw. The literature does not show them.

The wife sat in the drivers seat and told me that she thinks she'll have no issues driving it like she has with the Class A that we currently have.

Hi. Yes, we picked it up last Tuesday. And, yes, there are bedside stands on each side of the king bed, which is great. It's a beautiful coach, and I had no trouble driving it, just kind of like a giant truck!
At inspection before signing off on it, we did find a number of issues that the dealership will be taking care of for us, hopefully soon. This forum has been very helpful in answering the many questions that we have had as well. As this is our first RV, we are learning as we go.
We haven't yet taken it camping other than the first night at the dealership. Planning on getting on the road in a couple of weeks.

Hello All, I'm a newbie here to this forum and the wife and I are looking for some information. We are in the market for a Class C Diesel and have pretty much selected the new Isata 5 36DS.

We are currently in a 2003 Airstream Land Yacht and have been quite pleased with the quality and workmanship of the Airstream. We put a lot of miles on our RV, we bought it last February and put 20,000 miles on it since we bought it. Now that it has 70,000 miles on it, i'm not sure how many years of 20,000 a year we have left in it.

One more thing is that the wife does not like driving the Class A and she thinks she will be more comfortable driving a class C. Hence our search for a Class C.

I was interested in the Jayco Seneca but it just didn't seem to be of the same quality and workmanship of my Airstream and the older Dynaquest units. Since we are not retired yet, the DX3 is not an option at this time. While researching the DX3, I came upon the Isata 5 and am quite intrigued by it. Finding this forum has been a great find for me, I've read as much as I can and am also very excited to see Mr. Clemens posting here regularly. It says a lot when someone from the company posts here and answers any and all questions that customers have.

Enough of the introduction, now on to my questions.

1. I see that there are a few posters here that have the new 36DS. Are you satisfied with your purchase? Any issues that I should be aware of?

2. I was wondering what type of fuel economy you are getting? I don't tow anything yet but I may tow my Ford Explorer Sport later down the road.

3. How does it ride? One thing the wife is afraid of is the swaying when a big rig passes us. Driving about 20,000 miles a year - I need her to get behind the wheel on occasion.

4. Does anyone have the 100W solar panel option installed? Is it worth getting from the factory or putting it on aftermarket?

5. Does anyone have the Front entertainment option? I'd like to see it and it's not shown on the literature. With this option, is the bunk still usable or is it replaced with the larger TV?

Lastly for Mr. Clemens,

1. Are there any RV shows coming up that I can see a unit? I'm located in Hickory, NC and the local dealer happens to be a Dynamax Dealer but they have none of these on their lot.

2. I've dealt with the local dealer to service my current RV, are they a new dealer for you and will they be able to service this RV if I decide to purchase it?

Thank you all for taking the time to read this long post and thanks in advance for any answers that you may provide me with.
1. Lots of issues for all...Dynamax trying to sort them out

2. Mine has about 2500 miles on it and RAM mileage computer show a little over 8 MPG

3. Awesome ride, easy drive, plenty of power!

4. TBD you will need it for the residential fridge!

5. I wanted it but it is not available.

Well, I signed the paperwork today and pick up the 36DS tomorrow at 1:00. Going on a little trip to Orlando this weekend for our inaugural trip in it.

Congrats! There are a LOT of features on that unit to learn about. If you need anything don't hesitate to ask.

I probably will be asking questions, I'll be honest with you, one of the deciding factors in this purchase was the fact that you are so accessible to answer questions for us.

Hopefully this summer I can make a trip up to Elkhart to visit the factory. I'm in the tooling business and some of customers service your cutting tools. I could kill two birds with one stone, visit my customers and visit the factory where my RV was made.

Sounds like a plan. We're not perfect...but we try to do things the right way. Sometimes there is a learning curve to that. In any event, we're here to help.

Well, I picked up my new 36DS this afternoon. It is awesome. I only drove about 25 miles in it but it rides totally different than my class A Airstream Land Yacht. It doesn't feel like I'm driving a motorhome, it feels like I'm driving my Ford F-350 dualy flatbed. I'm not sitting high up like I the class A. I think my wife will be much more comfortable driving it.

There are a couple of minor issues that I told my dealer about (no red window shade, no center cushion for dinette bed) that I noticed as we did the inspection and a couple of things that I noticed tonight (no curtain for cab over bed) and one more funny thing:

In the bathroom cabinet there was a towel rack and toilet paper holder still in the plastic bags. I have scoured the web and cannot see a picture of where they are supposed to be mounted. Any one have an idea where they are supposed to go?

We'll be taking out for a 1200 mile trip this coming weekend so we'll see how it travels. I'll keep everyone updated.

lol. There are long threads on the TP holder. We never install the towel bar or TP holder. They really can go wherever you want. We used to install them, but it seems everywhere we do, someone can find a reason why it was stupid to put it there. Although...I think that was TP holder and toothbrush holder. I'll have to see why no towel bar...that one seems "odder" to me. Probably got lumped into the TP holder.
