Manual operation of slide-outs?

Is there a way to manually operate the slide-outs on a 2018 Dynamax Isata 5?

LCI has a PDF on the "Slim Rack" slide mechanism with instructions on how to bring the slide in without power which requires removing both motors.

https://www.lci1.com/assets/content/...3010002588.pdf

Hope this helps.

If you are referring to manually operating each motor separating from the switch then yes.

If you are referring to a manual way to crank the slide-outs in or out then no.

The motors have to be removed to free the slide out to be manually move. To remove a motor it is held in with a spring and a hold down screw ( newer models may not have a spring). The hold down screw is on the outside trim strip by the motor. Then have to remove the inside trim strip on the wall to access the motor and pull it out.

Neither. But had trouble bringing it in. Simply want to know what to do if indeed it does get stuck.

Thanks. I've printed this out and read through it. It's a little disconcerting that their instructions read, "It MAY be possible to manually retract the room by using a ratchet and socket." ha ha. I wish they were a little more confident. I also wish they included better photographs. But I will check out our unit and familiarize myself with the fix should we ever need it. Hope we don't. Thanks again.

The next time you have the slide in, from the inside of the camper move the rubber seal back at the top corner of the slide. You will see the small silver motor as well as the retention spring. the easiest way would be to remove both motors and have two people push the slide into position and then reinstall the motors to lock it into place. I am carrying a spare motor and gear rack because I know its coming.

Thanks. That's very helpful. After two days of looking into this, watching videos, downloading manuals, and input from this forum I think I've got a handle on it. Now to do a dry run in the unit so as to be prepared. I too will order spare parts because I have to think a problem with slide-outs is inevitable. Thanks again.

Can you share the source for the spare parts? My single slide is 24 feet long and I have nightmares of it not working.

Looking at my slide I just hope I don't have issues. Being about 24 feet long getting to the side nearest the rear would be nearly impossible. I can see the motor on the other end easily. There is only a few inches between the slide and the rear wall. I am doing thing in the meantime to help minimize the chance by removing any weight from the slide when I run it in and out. Making sure the RV is level. Making sure my drivers seat is out of the way as when in driving position the slide rubs it. I keep the seals treated and the racks oiled.

Its a tiny motor for $400.00........I also perform all of the maintenance on the slides but I have that one bowed gear rack that I know is going to strand me. All the other racks are fine. It is as if that rack is about one inch too long.

It would be nice to know exactly how hard these slides are to push in? The one thing I do like about my slide even though its as long as a football field is it does not come out very far. Only about 18-20 inches. The weight on my rollers seem to be concentrated to the inside.

Videos?

JWP007,

Did you find videos on how to remove the motors on the Isata 5? I have a 30FW that has been giving me slide issues and I want to know how to get that thing back in if there is a motor failure.
