My new Isata 5 30fw...issues

First off, we love our new Isata 5 30fw. But a couple of items... not sure how to handle. Maybe these are addressed elsewhere but didn’t see them.

These are both warranty issues according to dealer.

First, bathroom mirror pressure cracked just sitting in lot. Dealer says we need to bring it in so they can measure and order locally. Wouldn’t Dynamax have those ready to ship to the dealer?

Second, couch converting into bed. It doesn’t work. Foot of bed is 6 inches lower than head. Dealer said we had the wrong couch. Then they said they could get longer legs and bolts so the bed would be parallel to floor. To appease us until then, they fashioned four wood blocks to put the legs on. Doesn’t work worth a darn.

Finally there is a hole opening to the outside at the bed slide. I have to plug that with tape or plastic when slide is out and remember to remove plug when we put slide in. Is Dynamax aware of that? What is the remedy?

Again, love it overall. But weird issues. Appreciate others input. Dealer is hard to reach and only replies by email.

Thanks!

All three of these issues have come up recently.

Someone else had a broken mirror just in the past few weeks. I would think the locally sourced mirror would be more reliable than taking a chance on shipping a mirror.

The bed leg is also a known issue, see post #6 in this thread - http://www.forestriverforums.com/for...rt-161408.html

Thanks milkman55, you beat me to it. And the search function is a very nice tool.

Sean actually cracked his mirror driving home. We shipped in foam, but yes, locally sourced is probably easier and less risky. Dealer should be able to get the size we use from parts. Holes might be the only ????

That’s why we are on these forums is to help each other. I have gone 14 months with zero issues with my Isata 3 24FW, so I just have to help others until i have a need for help with mine.

appreciate your help. Some of us are new to this forum so thanks for your patience.

With respect to the hole, I saw the post. But I had trouble finding a solution in it because of all the banter about cost per inch and saving $$. Was there a solution noted?

lol....yes, you can blame some of the banter on me. My wife says I still act 12 and can't be serious. I'm afraid there are more like me than not on here so it feeds itself. It's how i retain my youthful good looks.

Yes, the dealer can add some seal to the existing seal. There are a couple of people here I have sent just a length of rubber flap to add on, if they did not want to hassle with a dealer visit. Maybe one can chime in with a couture of their results?

We are one of those that were sent a piece of seal, however DH decided that a piece of garage door bottom seal with double stick tape from the inside was a bit easier to try, he wasn't quite sure how to install that piece with the flangey thing on it. We are currently on a 3 week trip and it is working great so he will make it permanent when we get home. If it becomes a problem he will probably figure out the seal BC sent.

As for the sofa, our dealer simply ordered the longer leg kit from Dynamax, it is waiting for us when we get home.

After i sent yours, I found a different material that I sent to SusieR. It was just a flat rubber flat with 3M VHB tape on it. It was too big, cut could easily be cut down by scissors.

The only reason I sent you the actual seal, was that if you wanted to cut off a small piece and glue it on for a temporary fix you could, but then have enough to replace the whole thing down the road if you wanted.

And we very much appreciate it!! Maybe we will bring the whole piece to the dealer when we go back for the 2 parts that are there and have them do it, since we have the seal, we won't have to wait for it.

Brian, great video on your return trip from the rally. thanks to that video I now need to upgrade from my Solera 24r. I am in California and now on a waiting list for a 30FW. The dealer noted that there is a possible supply issue with the Ram 5500 chassis and I may have to wait till next year, is that correct? Thanks for all you do.

yes/no. There was not a supply issue...its just that we build that product down the line with the M2 Freightliner stuff. Both have taken off the past year....so we haven't been able to build enough.

However, just recently, Dodge shut down their paint booth for upgrades. 5 weeks shut down, so now I am OUT fo 4x4 chassis until August and down to my last 8 4x2's. So if you want a 4x4...grab it. There won't be another one for a while.

Thanks BC. I am looking for a 4X4 and would like to find a dealer that has one with Espresso interior. My dealer only has a 2wd left and it has Cherry. Any dealers you know of that may have a 4x4 or a slot to order one? Cheers, Jay

Is the Ram brake recall problem solved, and if so are the units back on schedule or are the repairs still backed up? I’m still hoping (praying, visiting shamans, sacrificing chickens, etc.) for 2nd week August delivery.😎

Yes, we are currently working with Dodge to have them take care of everything. What is the pain is that this recall is VIN specific. So we have to see if it is affected and then order VIN specific parts.
