NC Quick Pass Transponder Mounting

Hello,
I believe there has been some chatter on where to mount the "Toll Transponders" so they can be read when pulling through the various toll gates.
Where have those with experience mounted yours with good success? I have an Isata 5 30 FW....Does mounting differs with model?
Just got mine today and a sticker for my trailer.

On the DX with a cab over. My I pass transponder mounted around 12" or so. Roughly right behind an interior review mirror.

I test mounted the I pass (removable transponder for ezpass roads) first, ran it through a few different readers before using a permanent type mount setup for it.

I also have a kansas pass which is a permanent sticker mounted in same location. Both transponders have read 100% on all the places we've gone thru.

Our ez pass on force is mounted at bottom of windshield center. No issues there either

Thanks for the feedback gentlemen. The instructions had me mounting the transponder in the center at the very top above the mirror which would have surely been blocked by the cab bunk.

We have ours mounted about 6 inches down from the top of the windshield, never had a problem with it.

NC Quick Pass

Just as an aside - do not mount the sticker on the trailer. I was advised by the NC Quick Pass folks that you only have to mount the Transponder/sticker on the tow vehicle. You need to register your trailer with them, hence the sticker, but to put the sticker "in a drawer" as using the two will "confuse" the system.
Continue the Adventure!

Thanks for the advise on the trailer sticker. When I registered the trailer.....a 14 ft. Aluma, they didn’t really say where to mount it? I carry my Smart car on the trailer.

Not thinking, I mounted my transponder above the mirror, just as I did on each of my cars. Two years later, I haven't had an issue with it being read. I did get a $2.50 fine from New Your state, they got a picture of my TOAD's tag.

I mounted my ezpass behind the mirror on the windshield, has worked fine.

Brings up a very interesting point: Let's say I go through the "EasyPass Lane" on the WV turnpike pulling my 14ft trailer with the Smart Car. The toll at that gate should be $6.50 ($5.00 for the Isata 5 and $1.50 for the trailer."
How does the system know if the trailer is....or isn't being towed? I have the trailer listed on my account but was told not to put a separate transponder on the trailer...even though I have one, as it can't picked up behind the motorhome.
Do I have to us a regular toll gate and talk to someone??

Thanks for the info but.....you just drove right thru the "EasyPass" lane then and not the regular lane and stop....just to be sure?
Based on that I would say they will charge you for the trailer even if you don't tow it as how could the reader determine the difference????

yes, of you have a cab over you may need to place it at the bottom of the windshield.

I just picked up a Georgia E-Z Pass (which inter-ops with NC and FL) sticker for my F-150 yesterday. They said I could mount the decal on the windshield below the mirror or on either headlight. The headlight option was a new one to me. I hope NC and FL play along with that one..

Cameras make since.....The one thing Government agencies can do is collect cash.
Going to North Carolina Beach state park soon so I'll see how the system works.

There are sensors that count the axels and the weight to determine the class.
