Shouldn't be an issue other than a little rattling when driving with nothing on the hitch. You probably won't hear it back there anyways.
What I've done in the past with similar setups is drill out the hole in the tongue to match the hole in the receiver. I then get a grade 8 bolt that fits the hole properly, instead of using a pin with a clip, with a lock washer and nut and torque it down good. That solves the problem of rattling and you never need to worry about a clip coming off or someone swiping the pin. I never take my tongue out of the receiver so having it installed semi-permanent isn't a problem for me.
