No CD player on xite infotainment unit

Is there a reason for no cd player capability on the xite infortainment unit?

My user manual says there should be a cd slot. But mine does not have one. I have a large collection of cd's that I like to listen to when I get bored with broadcast or Sirius.

Did not notice this as assumption was made that a "high end" radio/camera/nav unit would have this by default.

The XITE is mechless (or no DVD/CD). More and more common these days even on high end cars. The U-connect in my Jeep (and the the Ram 5500) are both mechless.

You can rip those CD's to sd cards and get a lot more of them on one stick without the need to change them out each time.

As for the reason, I think it is similar to the transition from cassette to CD and now to digital media. I'm not sure there is ever a good time as there are those that will always have a little bit of nostalgia.

I was going to say something along the lines of same reason there's no 8 track player but Brian was being so professional. Thanks Halla for being the first jerk

My pleasure. It is funny, our son found a box of CD's and he asked if they were movies. I then showed him a cassette tape, "mind blown".

I think my dad still has some 8 Tracks from his 70' Cuda. I will have to show those to my son.

I am finally donating all the CDs I have left to the salvation army. I wonder if they even want them. Do people even buy CDs anymore?

No offense taken!

BTW I still have a reel to reel, 8 track, cassette record/playback, cd multi changer for home, and even a turntable that all are all in working order.
Also have some 78 rpm vinyl laying around in waxed paper multi lp albums.

When the provided manual does not match the actual equipment I have a tendency to ask questions. The Xite manufactures website does not list a unit or manual that is the actual model (Xite 6) of what is installed in my 37TS. It only lists a unit with a dvd player which is not on mine.
Mr. C answered the question and I thank you.

Now I have to rip all my music library to usb drives because the unit I have will not take sd cards with exception of the nav slot.

Just another item that takes additional time and money.

For tnrzryd,
attached is the user manual provided to me.

Infotainment - River Park - XSG2N-X25.pdf

Happy camping!

Thanks for point that out. I'll get the actual model and make sure we have the proper owners manual loaded up. We used to use the CD one prior to this version.

There are companies already doing this. Some people crave that grainy sound of a cassette.

There are some Audiophiles who claim the 33-1/3 rpm records have a richer, fuller sound that digital music lacks. Some claim certain harmonics are lost when digitized.

Possibly, I guess. I think for some it is nostalgia too.
I have some music on my phone that I Bluetooth to the entertainment system. Most times it's Pandora.

Back in the mid 80s my young daughter asked me "Dad, how do you play those big black CDs?" It seems "old" is relative.

babock!!!
I was going to donate all my cd recordings.... decided to have a garage sale and include them instead. I knew I had some very "rare" cd recordings, but what to do?? I installed a bar code reader on my cell phone and began to scan all the bar codes on the cd's... then did a search on the internet for the lowest prices so I could price accordingly. I found that most of the cd's go for around $2 to $3 on the internet... but I also found 40 that had the lowest USED price in a $50-$100 range and one that shows on Amazon at $500.00. (Fred Waring / Christmas Magic [look it up!]). There were a lot that were still in the $15-$30 price range. I made about $800.00 in cd sales alone!! I still have 20 of the highest priced cd's. All of my cd's were burned onto hard drives in multiple formats before they got sold. mp3, wav, mpeg3...etc. I can fit all the cd's in mp3 format onto a thumb drive that plugs into the media center in my truck and my TT. In all, I have over 204 hours of music before the music will start to repeat. Even Sirius XM can not do that!!
