Question for Brian and the techs at Dynamax

I purchased the RVS rear view mirror replacement backup camera system. I'm looking to take my Isata 5 to a local shop to have the system installed but I was hoping to get a factory recommendation as to how to install the system.

I'm thinking that I can bring the camera feed wire through the front firewall, then along the underside of the chassis to the back drivers side corner. Then I would go up behind the drawers and up though the closet. I would then go above the ceiling in the bedroom towards the middle and see if I can feed the wire out the through the hole of the existing camera.

I think I can take the round vents off the ceiling and see if I can maneuver the cable to the spot I need.

Does this sound feasible or do you or one of your engineers have a better solution?

I would like to have an alternate solution in case the installer has a solution that I do not like.

1. Through firewall, check
2. underside of chassis, check.
3. cabinets to the roof, check. Trying to fish the wire using a vent opening is probably where it would go south. The vent goes into an enclosed duct, so unless you punch that out I don't think you would have enough room.

That rear fiberglass cap has enough cavity, clear area, you might be able to punch something through the rear wall in the cabinet into that cavity, then fish something over from the outside rear cap. I think you might be able to find an ABS cover for the camera...that would allow you to drill a bigger hold to fish over and then put the camera in the ABS cover which would cover the hole.

Could you use the existing wiring from the old camera?

Nope. On the RAM Truck we used their camera that ties into the CANbus.

I had my RVS camera installed at Camping World. They put my wiring under the trailer and did the fish through the rear cap.

Had the RVS camera installed at Camping World today. Took them 5.5 hours to get it installed and it works great. They ended up going through the firewall, along the chassis and up the drivers side and then fished the cable in the dead space above the rear window. They mounted the camera right next to the factory camera. Now I have a rear view mirror that is not looking at the fridge:
