In all seriousness, we have never and will never turn the water on to our ice maker for the reasons above ^^^^^^^. I buy a bag of ice and put it in the ice tray, much easier and safer.
Agree. Third RV with Res Fridge and it's an automatic leak for a motorhome. First thing I did after delivery, turn off the water supply to the fridge.

or this

or this

and turn off water when not in use

Great product, I use this in our pool pump equipment room and they have saved us from numerous floods. I bought two of them for like $60 and like them a lot. They need WiFi in order to text you. As soon as they get wet they send you a text message and an audible alarm on your phone. They are German made and like the Truma they have a frustrating user interface. Very difficult to program to get the Text alerts so difficult at that price point I almost threw them in the trash in frustration. But like the Truma once you get it working they are amazing. Batteries are good for a year or two I think. We have a reminder in our calendar to change them, I think it's one of those odd expensive camera batteries.

My builder gave me one like that as a welcome gift. I do believe it is sitting in a drawer.

Pull it out when you are bored it is a challenge to program. But when you get it working you'll never worry about a water heater or other kind of water intrusion again. As long as you have power to your WiFi. Really the Text alert to me money more than once. Really a peace of mind thing. And they are cheap, you could put one behind the fridge, the water heater, and under each toilet supply line all the usually suspect for home flooding.

Yes! You would be surprised to know how much I enjoy camping if you knew the scary scenarios that play in the back of my mind (most of which stem from reading this forum).

If I see one ice maker problem in Toy Story 4, I am holding all of you responsible.
