As someone else mentioned I joined here after reading this thread. I am getting to the end of my second dually and slide in over the last 30 years. Dodge cummins 4x4 Arctic fox
I had always said if a diesel 4x4 class c with significant power and CCC became available that would be it for me till I die!
So Mr Clemens I am getting older by the minute!!!
My Priorities (wish list);
-Short (28'-30')
-CCC 3500 min, figuring I will have 800-1000 tongue weight
-4x4 diesel (cummins)
-325 hp
-750 torque
-ALLISON 3000 or equal (AISIN)
-Bedroom, bed does not have to be all time
-Fat Boy bath and toilet, 6-2/250, no problem with a large wet bath
-Seating and sleeping for 4
My preferences;
-No slides on the passenger side
-Victron based invertercharger/MPPT solar control
-4-600 amp hours battery
-6-800 watts solar
-compressor based refrigeration
-At least one nice large outside storage compartment passenger side
I always thought the destination was more important than taking a nap on the way. So I am all for some sacrifice to emphasize SHORT 4x4 DIESEL.
IMO it is not about the style you roll IN, but the places you can roll INTO!!
My vote would be to put the existing I3 24RW on an M2 4x4 with the 350 cummins and 3200 allison.
My guess is the M2 is 2-3 ft longer than the merc so it would be around 27ish as is and for those who want the all time bed extend the box removing the rear slide and you are right around the 30' mark?? Damn near off the shelf?
The M2s front seats swiveling gives the additional seating if needed, 4x4 capable, BIG diesel power to tow heavy up the sierras, truly short with rear slide, no slides on the awning side.
To hell with the kids college find I jjust need to know when I can pick it up

Great post! Agree entirely. I would like to see the I3 RW or FW on the M2 w/ 4x4 option and lithium battery upgrade.

Getting older by the minute
V6TOY4X & Barch
I have been saying the same thing for a while now. Million mile chassis with offroad capability. An M2-like short wheelbase is the answer. aka Dynaquest 264ST, 300ST, 300XL
Ground clearance, 26-33K Gross, Cummins ISC 350HP+, Allison 3200, Air brakes, Meritor Axles with electronic locker, 15-20K towing, 22.5" wheels/tires, 6-8K diesel gen, solar, Danfoss-based frig, shower with integral seat, 100gal fresh, 50/50 waste heated tanks, Truma, Aquahot, 100 gal fuel, slideout battery trays, airbag auto leveling, dual armrest airride captains chairs, dual ducted air units, deep sinks, dual pane, …
And yes, all squoze into a XL tall bay, low entry door,...
Oh yeah, one fixed bed and dinette with air lift articulating table for easy second adult bed.
Maybe a poll would be in order to see how many others are in the same frame of mind & experience.

I spent most of last night looking at chassis stuff and realized Mr Clemens is working towards a MUCH more affordable solution for the masses using the dodge chassis.
In just reading previous posts and what pricing one can find on the internet at 2am, going to the S2RV (non 4x4) is an upcharge of 35K, another 15K to M2 106 (non 4x4) then 15-20K for 4x4 so if the dodge chassis is around 65-70K moving up doubles the chassis cost?
If the CCC can get up to the 3500-4000 on the 5500 I would consider that success at a price point I may still be able to educate my kids!
I still would like a floor plan with the option for the rear slide to get total length to 27ish and seat 4.
This one should be around 27-10 on the dodge, then my version with a wet bath gets it to 27-0 on the dodge

It is progressing.
Hope to start building in July-ish?
800 watts of solar is planned with dual MPPT controllers to a single display. We have confirmed all of this with Go Power...this set up also lets us use our current wiring gauge.
We have dual Lithium batteries slated with potentially an option for two more. They are a newer battery and will have a built in heater to overcome the temp issues for charging.
Extra insulation, dedicated ducts to the wet bay along with a planned aux heater as added insurance. We also plan a wet bay temp sensor that will show you current temp in the touch screen or app.
We'll be testing out a new tank reading system that will be 5% increments, no stick on probes.
Lots of R&D and "sort of " concept items that may find their way into other models. For now we are only planning the insulation package on this model as an "Extreme Package".
More to follow, but I don't want to give too much away. We'd like this to get the 'reveal" that it deserves. (and I need to test it...maybe on a ski trip)

It was posted in the original post. Fixed bed is the plan, no sliding bed. We will continue to tweak minor details.

We are looking forward to seeing this model. Kinda sounds like you’ve included much of what is important to us! Rock on!

I came across this new, shorter (33'6") Thor Super C F550 Omni/Magnatude XG32 floorplan on their website.
I like the opposing seating next to the cab, and the slightly wider coach (99" vs. Isata 5 96") gives a little more room to get down the aisle when slides are in.
However, I prefer the non-slide rear bed of the proposed short Isata 5 and the huge passthrough storage that will come with it.
I feel for Brian and team. It is a challenge getting closer to 30' and not giving up too much in the floorplan!

I think the masses will give Brian 100 lashings for every foot over 30' this ends up

lol...agree.
And yes, this one is 33'-6". I think with the bumper we ended up 30'-8". Not a bad tweener though, between the 36DS and 30FW to get a non-hinged bed. Maybe down the road.

I was hoping for 30’ or less so it would fit into my RV storage building. Really disappointed! Bummed!

The RAM cab is 17-18" longer than an M2-106 and sits lower to the ground. RAM does not have air brakes, no option for 22.5 tires/wheels, no option for a Cummins ISL, less CCC, less ground clearance, less fuel capacity, smaller tanks, less access to engine compartment, no Allison 3200 option, would be struggling towing an 8000lb boat/trailer uphill, no swivel air ride seats, no option for dual armrests,... just to name a few.
A few more ideas:
2014 29ft
2015 30ft
In the floorplan below, add a couple slideouts, flip the queen bed around, use the same shower w/integral seat & use the idea of access to private bedroom along the side of the coach.

That shipped has sailed on this particular project. If you would like to start a "short M2" thread, then those would be better served under their own thread.
"Short M2 with all-time Fixed Bed", might be a worthy subject.

And also $56,000 MSRP more money (just chassis alone). Also, the 29' floor plan does not include a down bed.
And why do they have a door way to an empty hallway? put bikes in there??
