Well mine will be disabled at delivery then unless they can be made to stay at all times.
The blinking in and out when changing lanes is a distraction and in my opinion is also a major safety hazard.

Pretty easy to do on the 5 as the video control box is just behind the lower trim piece of the dash (below the stereo). Just unhook the left/right trigger...or connect them to one of the uifitter switches to come on when you want. I think a couple people have done that already.

Thanks Brian! I'll hook them up to one of the other switches and run them in the on mode when ever I'm moving.
Can they operate without taking the rear camera off line?

No, the camera that we have now is a single view. So if you activate either side camera, it replaces the rear.

Still a workable option until some better solution comes around.

Just make them on demand. On when you want and off when you don’t. Best of both worlds!

I think the rear camera is great, not only for reversing but to see the tow vehicle too, while towing. I got to thinking with the side cameras, they are really a novelty with everybody wanting them because of the latest trend. The mirrors on a dx3 are great and I don’t see the need for cameras. It’s really nice to have the remote operated large mirrors but can you get the smaller lower mirrors powered and remote operated. For me that would be more useful than side cameras. Anybody seen or have them?
Side cameras can be a huge help when parking in tricky spots. I have multiple cameras on my 5'er/Silverado combo but they are switched so I see only one view at a time. Fiddly but less confusing.

Side Cameras

I would prefer blind-side sensors in place of the cameras. I have side cameras as a purchase option. A couple of things bother me with the cameras. By the time you put the signal for lane change it takes about 2 seconds for the camera to engage; secondly the dashboard monitor is very prone to glare based on time of day. Are they better than nothing, yes, and for that I would keep them engaged even with decent mirrors and convex angle mirrors in place. The point of contention for me is the blind side and the cameras do help but just a tad bit late in cases. I rely on mirrors first and as a secondary the cameras. BLUF-I wouldn't purchase after market cameras. I forgot to add the backup mirror is just fine and is necessary for everything mentioned previously.

I disconnected my side cameras a while back. Added a 7.5 inch screen in the location intended for a CB radio. I leave the rear camera on that screen continuously. Thinking about moving my side cameras to the rear of the coach to help me watch the rear end when maneuvering in a tight Campground. I can add a second video input to the extra monitor I installed and use a split screen.

Here's a vote for the side cameras, use them on every turn. A dedicated camera display would be nice, like the class As have. A large screen with a selectable 3-way split would be nice. Someone mentioned a larger convex lower mirror, that's a good idea too.

It appears most post are about Class A & C units. I have a 35 foot Cherokee that the side cameras are very helpful in backing in to close spots. Also when fueling at some gas stations getting in and out can be close. A view of the blind side helps to avoid tail swing contact when half-jacked.
We purchased the new Furrion 7 inch Monitor package, which allows for multi view or individual camera view with the touch of a button. The package also came with a fourth camera to mount over the RV door for security. The rear camera will pickup audio so you can hear your spotter.
