First post as we are slated to pick up our new 2016 DX3 next week. I know the sony head unit says its SiriusXM ready. Does that mean it's like a new car, where the antenna is run and you just need to activate a subscription? Or does the "adapter" box with Antenna need to be hooked up to the Sony head unit for making it Sirius enabled?
I think all I need to do is activate a subscription but wanted to see what others had to do on a new DX3.
Xm ready simply means the head unit has an input to plug the receiver into, and then the head unit will control the xm slave. It may or may not have an antenna installed. As a suggestion forget the over priced single point built in unit and instead buy a portable model that you can easily move from place to place.
As Halla said, we put the tuner and antenna in every model.
For what the module costs us, versus what it would cost you to run all the wires...its a no brainer.

I have a siriusxm account in my car or anywhere and for $5 extra I also get on other divices so I use my iPhone to hook up with a cable or stream with Bluetooth to my radio..you have to have an account anyway so For $5 no other equipment is needed and I take it anywhere
I have sirius in both of my cars as well and I like the streaming idea but if I'm in a spot where there isn't cell reception, I like the direct sirius antenna idea.
Thanks again and looking forward to picking up the new DX3 on Friday!
