Level first! If not you are putting undue stress on components of the slide that it is not designed for. Will bite you in the butt later! Plus it keeps all the weather seals where they belong. It drives my nuts when I go in a dealership and see all these slides open with trailers sometimes two feet higher from one end or the other. Level one ,slide two.!!

I am really knew to the motorhome world but I think its not what the slide motors " can do " but what is best to protect them. Sure I think they are strong enough to work through some minor binding but why put them through that.

When we looked at ours for the first time, the salesperson did open and close without using the leveling jacks but she did start the engine to operate the hydraulic jacks.

When I open and close, I level first. It just makes sense to level and support the rig before asking the walls to move. Plus Mr. Clemens said to do it that way.....

Yes....if we have learned nothing by now, we should have at least learned to always do what Mr. Clemens says

I can see a new board game named "Mr. Clemens Says". Screw up and you have to redo your PDI!

I'm thinking more "soup nazi"....step out of line, don't follow instructions. banishment. (or shunned for xx numbers of days)

Shunning would be more inline with the northern Indiana Amish theme.
