Some help with cable, please...

We’re at Myrtle Beach at Oxean Lakes (using our “free” raffle winnings from the first Dynamax rally THANK YOU) and since we’ve had the DX3, we’ve never hooked up to cable.

So I plugged the cable in by the water compartment, turned the tv’s antenna to cable and scanned. It’ll find all sorts of air channels but won’t pick anything up in digital cable.

Any suggestions? Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks,

Mark

Did you turn OFF the OTA antenna booster? You must... and then rescan.

Ah ha... we turned it off at the unit on the ceiling but not at the switch by the DVD player. Once we did that, it worked.

THANKS Dan!!!

And this is why I love this forum!

You're welcome. The blue is true for me, too.

One last question... do we surround sound or just through the tv?

Thanks again!

Sorry. I'm not equipped to have any experience. We'll have to wait on more help.

I have an I5, but on mine I set the DVD to AUX and get surround sound on SAT, CABLE, and AIR channels.

I’m talking about the Samsung stereo (home theatre in a box) not the Jensen

There are a few steps you need to perform.

1. Make sure the HDMI cable plugged into the Jensen TV is plugged into HDMI 1 (ARC). This input is usually on the bottom of the TV.

2. On the TV, go into the setup Menu and select PICTURE.

3. Scroll down to HDMI CEC.

4. Select CEC Mode <ON>. Select Audio Receiver <ON>. I'd leave auto standby, auto switch and auto power set to <OFF> until you know how they behave.

5. Exit menu and select TV as your source and tune to a stable picture.

6. Turn on the Samsung Home Theater in a Box (HTIB). After a few seconds, the HDMI connection should engage (handshake) and you should get sound from the speakers connected to the Samsung at this point.
