Steering Stablizer

Almost hate to start a new topic on this because I’ve seen discussions on this topic but trying to search for it produces everything but.....

Has anyone installed a steering stabilizer on a DX3? If so...satisfied with cost and results?

Does Freightliner sell and install?

I put a Safe-T-Plus on mine and love it. It’s effectiveness and necessity has been discussed at length, but I’m a believer.

Easy install and excellent customer support.

Safe T Plus also, love it. Added a little more ease with driving, one hand operation and it returns to center if installed properly. It took me a while to get it centered properly, you have to drive and adjust, drive and adjust until it is right. Took about 2 hours total to install and adjust.

What was the cost? Is it worth having Freightliner service center install it or better to do it yourself?

Do you remember the name of the topic wherein it was discussed? I never have any success with the search engine on this forum.

Just looked it up....just one cylinder to install? The one I saw at the FMCA rally was a lot more complicated than that.

$500? Ballpark? You can have freightliner install. It is one huge shock, a thick metal plate that mounts under the springs, and then two u bolts to hold it to the tie bar.

Was it worth the time and money?

Was discussed quite a bit in this thread:

http://www.forestriverforums.com/for...an-153033.html

About $500 for the shock and another $50 or so for the mounting hardware.

Totally worth the time and money to me. My DX3 wandered a lot and found/followed ALL the grooves in the road; I could never drive it one handed; and it was downright scary when I was passing or was being passed by a big rig. All of that was corrected (or masked, depending on how you look at it), after the install.

Mookie are you saying it resembled the feeling a lot of people say about driving a
Class A?

The adjustments were to correct pulling one side or the other? You weren’t concerned about messing up your alignment?

I see they install it free at their factory just west of Atlanta. Ugh. I was in that area two weeks ago.

Another A+++. Installed Dynaquest 340 xl. Tracks straight as an arrow. If I ever blow a front tire I'll post, but peace of mind given the videos I've seen

Thanks for posting the previous string. How did you find it?
After reading this and the previous string I’ve decided to have one installed at the factory on my way to the Dynamax Rally.
