Sumo Springs
So we picked up our 2020 Isata 3 24FW yesterday. Of course I’m looking at what mods I’m going to do. I’ve read through the Sumo springs threads and it’s something I’m going to do right away. For my chassis I have the option of 1400 or 900 lb capacity. For those that have added these any recommendations on which size to get. Any pros or cons to the different capacity sizes?

I went with the blue ones on the front and the black ones on the back. I think they are the 1,400 capacity. The springs (rubber bumpers) seem to help with the jarring when crossing uneven expansion joints. I still have a very noisy Helwig bar even after 2 attempts to torque it. Otherwise, I am happy with the handling and ride of my coach.

I have the SSR-338-47 which is 900 lb capacity. It doesn’t give you any more carry capacity, it just smooths the ride especially when traveling over uneven surfaces, like turning into a gas station, you don’t get the side to side bouncing.
It fills the void between the frame and axle where the OEM bump stop is just a small rubber piece to keep you from bottoming out.
I have read that the yellow version, assume the higher capacity is a little stiff, but just what I read.
Installed the Sumo’s myself, about a half day job for front and back.

Thanks for the replies. The yellow ones are the 1400 lb capacity. That was my concern that the 1400 lbs would possibly make for a stiffer ride.

Look over on the Sprinter forum on this site and you will find a lot of info on Sumo’s.

I had the black ones on the back and the blue ones on the front. I called Sumo and they recommended the yellow ones on the back and the blue on the front. Personally I like it better with the yellow ones. Less rocking over uneven surfaces and no real difference with ride quality.
You should call them and they will help you decide what to get. They were very helpful and told me what part numbers to order. I bought mine from Amazon.

I have the new chassis I3 I have yellow in the back, and need to get the fronts. Rear does not seem stiff at all, but I do need them on the front for sure. I am going to go with the black on the front. When I have communicated with sumo they recommended yellow rear, black front.

Oops, correction. Sumo had me install (black) on front and yellow on the rear. Sorry!

My two cents worth: I went with the Hellwig spring on my GMC Sierra 1500 and they have worked just fine for me. I also went with TOYO "E" rated tires and went up one size. I normally run them at 60# not towing then 80# all around when towing. I get a vein when someone rides in the truck with 60# air pressure and comment on what a nice riding truck it is. Before the Hellwig and tire change it rode like a Cadillac, too darn smooth for a truck.
