Well said, Milkman55. I am on the same page. I am also assuming that I would prefer the ride/road qualities of the sprinter over the Ford - I need to get a test drive of the Isata 3, as we have already tried out the Ford.
I need to bring my wife along, and she needs to bring our 85lbs dog. I also can't see trading off water, as I expect to dry camp frequently, so that gets me to 680. Feels doable even though I haven't done the detailed math. I expect canned beer is lighter than bottles, eh? ;-)

We love our Isata 3 when it is parked and leveled at the campground. truly is spacious. Had our share of issues to resolve, but appears that is the norm for most RV's. Added Sumos to rear and noted improvement. May add Bilsteins to the rear. I think you mentioned traveling with full water; I have done that for short distances when we are dry camping. I would not drive with full water for any long trips; clearly makes the Sprinter work harder and ride and handling suffer. When we camped at the Great Sand Dunes National Park, (great park) we had to get water (and dump) at a local KOA. Had to pay for the water, but sure beat driving with full tank from previous campground outside Colorado Springs.
Just a thought; saw online that Winnebago now makes a Navion with a full slide. I have no idea how they compare price-wise; I bet that ride and handling are similar. Has a murphy bed, which is a great idea, and one that Dynamax should consider stealing/using. I think the Isata is more attractive. We continue to get compliments on the appearance of our unit; last time was from a young ranger at a local state park. I had a guy ask to take pictures of ours last summer.
Good luck with the search.

Thanks, RolandRevenger - sloppy planning on my part. Filling up water before setting up camp makes good sense. We've been tire kicking at RV shows for years now, watching these smaller C's evolve. We are kind of stuck on the dedicated bedroom area, as opposed to the murphys. As much as I've seen I keep coming back to the Dynamax products. Even more important, the wife likes them too! ;-) (Putting the Great Sand Dunes NP on my list!)

Any thinking going on at dynamax around a shorter (less than 35) version of the dx3/xl/force family?
