towing10-12k

Hello all -

My family and I are considering stepping up to a Super C from a Class A gas and I had a couple of questions about the towing a trailer in the 10-12k range.

We would be pulling a 4 horse slant load bumper pull trailer and best guess, fully loaded it would be somewhere around 12k, which is well within the 20k range of the DX3 and Dynaquest XL.

One question I had is whether or not the extra 100hp and torque you get with the Dynaquest is really noticeable over the DX3? It seems like it would be on large hills, but perhaps the 12k trailer weight is so far below the capacity that on either coach towing the engines aren't bogged down.

Second question is from a comment I saw in another thread. Someone said something along the lines that Renegade set their coaches up assuming that you would always be pulling a heavy trailer while Dynamax set their coaches up assuming you would usually be towing a toad but would occasionally be towing something heavy. I'd appreciate any insight that those who regularly town heavy trailers have into that comment.

Thanks all, this is a great resource for those of us considering the jump to a Super C.

How much time in the mountains? I pull about 8k and only time I ever notice it is going through the Rockies. That said I still do 45-55 up the 7% grades. I'd think about it if I did it all over again, but either way its perfectly acceptable. More a question of your patience. If you're on flatter land I wouldn't even worry about it.

We wouldn't plan on being in big mountains a lot, but our area is pretty much solid rolling hills, some of which are 1-2miles in length.
