I've learned that there are quite a few folks in here that way over think things

I filter the water I put in the tank and I empty out any left over tank water after a trip. When starting a on a trip I will always let the faucets run for a couple minutes to flush any old water out of the lines and water heater.

Sticker shock. I was told several times that In the area I worked most of my life the going rate fifty cents. No personal experience in these matters.

Actually you should be able to reconfigure your existing filter plumbing lines to do exactly what you said (how it should have been installed in the first place) since these lines are generally plastic. They can be easily cut, rerouted, and if needed add one or more shut off valves to them (e.g. winterization bypass). Hopefully you won't have to relocate the actual filter housing.

Excellent discussion on water purification / filtration issues, but I seemed to have missed the point on why I read this thread. Does the factory installed water filter under the bathroom sink in the Isata 3 filter the 'incoming city water' when filling the tank or using it directly, or does it filter the water from the holding tank going to the coach?

I believe it filters the water from the tank going into the coach.

Thanks for the clarification. In that case, I agree that an external filter would be preferable to avoid particulate contamination of the holding tank. The filter under the sink is not the most convenient to access anyway.

If it is under sink, it filters that faucet only, but everything that goes through it...
