I just got these in, I replace mine frequently. I picked up some really bad water this summer at an RV park in Ontario, so my new thing is drain the tank after every trip and frequently change the filter.

Some folks will install hose fittings on any brand of filter and leave it outside hooked to the supply hose. .
Makes it easy to change filters.

If you identify which water filter housing you have from the WaterPur website, then possibly someone can identify a replacement filter from a large box store which would be a lower price and more accessible.

Sounds like you have the KW1 filter housing. If so, the only filter available is the expensive one. I was getting from a local FR dealer for $29 the past two years and it went up to $38 this year.

And to the OP... make SURE you know how the canister comes off/goes on with the FR1 filter assembly It operates different than typical screw on filter canister/housings.

Seems odd your's is different than mine, greg gave me one right off the line when I was in for factory service. Anyway after that bad and I mean kill you bad water I got up north last summer I also use one of those cheap RV supply line filters at the hose bib, Walmart and I toss them out after a months use. So I'm hopefully double filtering. We don't drink it anyway, just for showers and such. Scott I took a sample of that water at that RV park and you would have thought I took it out of a swamp. Scary. I had to flush and bleach the whole system, gave me the creeps.

Check out prices at the Water Pur site or at HannahRV.com.
You can even buy multi-packs and save.
As for the "Camco Torpedo" that hangs on the side of the trailer, last time I looked at one on the shelf at a local store they were darn near as expensive as what I paid from HannahRV.com
A four-pack runs about $31 per filter. I use one per year so it's not all that expensive and leaving the filter right where Forest River installed it means I get filtered water from both the City Water connection AND from my tank.

Scott, I owe you an apology. The reason yours are different is I ordered the wrong ones.
I opened my cheap filters from Amazon and now will have to ship them back. They are the same brand but wrong fit. Looks like I'll be in the same boat, paying $40 a filter. The alternative is to change cartridge housings?

When I saw the cost of the Water Pur KW1 filters and comments from a number of folks of the housing breaking, I replaced the housing with standard 10" whole house models that cost $14 each. Now I have my choice of filter media from the 5 micron string wound models at 2 for $4 up thru 0.5 micron cyst removal filters that run $15 each and are available everywhere. I ended up getting two housings, first one holds a string filter to clear the big stuff second is the 0.5 micron filter for most everything else.

I just changed the “whole coach” water filter on my Isata 3 FWS, and noted that no water filled the clear housing when I used the water pump/fresh water tank. Does anybody know whether the filter only is used when hooked to city water and the Anderson Valve is in the city water position?

KW1 and I purchased them from Hannah RV as stated earlier. I bought a 4 pack. The price isnt too bad. I added another filter under the kitchen sink to add more filtration. Some campgrounds have pretty nasty water.

Unless money is no object to you, it seems that most people here are replacing the entire assembly to one that uses readily available non-proprietary filters, based on previous threads. I will use my new FR1/KW1 until it is ready to be replaced, then for the cost of one Kw1 filter replace the entire assembly. The restrictive FR1/Kw1 OEM filter is clearly a case of making the end consumer think they have to stick with that filter (which they do, unless the housing is changed out). Fyi, the Camco blue torpedo is rated at 100 microns, will filter out large sediment and chlorine. No clue what KW1 is rated at, it does not have any NSF rating.
