I don't sanitize the water system, I use municipal treated water, anything that goes in the tank goes through a filter first then softener. Thats it. We are out every couple weeks I leave water in the heater and there is usually some in the tank.

With all the Hepatitis going around these days, you can't be too careful. It helps to know your campgrounds and where they get their water and if it is inspected by the state. Even then, we drink and cook with bottled water only. Our filtered campsite water is used for washing and flushing the toilet. So far, it has worked. (Yes, normal sanitation and cleaning of filter canisters, etc. are a regular procedure as well.)
