Arguing is pointless. Just add the increased cost of the PSW into the price of the unit and call it good. Really, they aren't that much more in initial cost anyway.

I run a Xantrex Pro Sine but I've also heard good things about AIMS as well.
I might be wrong, but I think the OPs inverter is PSW. Its a good one ... a Magnum.

That is correct. We run PSW on everything nowadays just to prevent confusion.

You can always turn the inverter and install one of these between the inverter and the black wire:

4 bucks at Home Depot.

Yeah, I was thinking along the same line.

Thanks.

UPDATE

I was finally able to get to the inverter. Not as involved as I had expected.

To clear up one point of discussion my inverter is a pure sine wave inverter.

We pushed the reset button about 5 or 6 times and also turned the power off and on. We also trued to jiggle the plug that goes into one of the inverters outlets but it felt tight.

Even with the inverter apparently not working I saw voltage being displayed on the LED readout. I couldn't read it because I did not have a clear right side up view.

The GFI house outlets had been tripped prior to the above. They have been reset several times but continue to trip with nothing plugged into them. And they tripped twice while we were playing with the inverter.

Eventually to my surprise I had power to the house outlets and the TV while only on battery power. Not sure why but I was getting too cold to investigate further. Now we wait and see what happens.

I still don't know where the wire that is plugged into the inverter goes or what it powers. Can someone at the factory tell me?

I don't foresee any problem if we rotated the inverter to make it easier to see and touch the front end. Something else the factory people may be able to tell me.

Bobby

If I am not mistaken, that wire that plugs into the inverter would be wired on the other end, into one of the breakers, so that it provides inverted power to a circuit. Normally a GFI protected circuit.

If you can unplug the black wire from the inverter, you could then unplug your normal shore power, then plug a 110VAC extension cord into 110VAC power and the other end into the black wire. Then your black wire would be directly powered from 110VAC. Then go around and see what 110VAC outlets in your TT have power. Any that have power are powered by the inverter.

RockFordRoo,
I didn't mention it in my previous post but my voltage tester showed that all of the 110 outlets are powered by the inverter when the only power source are the batteries when everything started working properly.

Thanks for the good diagnostic suggestion.

Since there are two GFI outlets I am thinking that there are two protected circuits. However, it seems that both GFI outlets trip at the same time.

I will try to see which breakers that wire connects to.

Thanks.

PS: my neighbor is in the home rehab business and he has been drooling over the floor in the REV.

Question for Brian

Brian,

I want to double check before I proceed. Since you often have good reasons for why things are done or not done.

I saw a 2017 REV RB at an RV show and the inverter was in the same position as mine.

Is there any reason why I should not turn the inverter so I can see the front panel and have easier access to the reset button if I needed?

Thanks,

Bobby

In that situation...no, feel free to move it.

Thanks.

BTW, for anyone who is interested I think I realized the reason the inverter GFI was tripped.

Thee was one time when I did not turn off the house battery before plugging or unplugging into shore power. I usually turn off house battery switch before doing either.

It has not tripped since I was able to reset the inverter.
