Winterization valve added to DQ 320

I finished the winterization valve project. I have attached a few pics to show before and after as well as the part that I used. The project was pretty straight forward with the only change to the instructions being that I put the valve directly on the fresh water tank, so it would winterize the intake filter too. I did have to slide the water tank forward a couple inches to make room for the additional length. I now have a simple way to winterize since we usually do this several times a year (we take trips all year). With this all I have to do is open low point drains, fresh water drain, and pull the water heater anode. once it is all drained I close the valves and turn the water tank bypass valves, and turn this new valve into the winterization position. Turn the water pump on and place the draw hose into the pink antifreeze jug. Run faucets, shower, outdoor shower, and commode until I see pink. DONE

If you look into the Brass valve you will notice the Suction side of your Pump has just been Reduced by 2/3 of Original intake Diameter! Youroo!!

Not sure that's accurate. Unless I'm missing something, the 1/2" Pex tubing has an ID of 3/8". If you're statement was accurate that would mean the ID of the brass valve is 1/8" which would be silly. Additionally, any fitting you use to assemble the pumping will reduce the ID slightly. You can tell from the picture here that it is certainly not that small and most likely pretty darn close to the ID of the Pex tubing. Conclusion: adding this valve has no effect on the performance of the pump and/or plumbing.

Look into the right side of the Inside opening that you have posted, that Daylight you see is the Flow area! The Large Dia.area is 1/2 Pex size! Not even close to same! I Posted Pics with measurements of these Very Valves several years ago! Youroo!!

I haven't noticed any pressure reduction, but I will pay closer attention next time I use it and report my findings. Thanks for the info. :-)

You will not notice a "Pressure Reduction" in the system,it will be a GPM issue! This can also be Helped by installing a Pressure/Bladder Tank of some Size to your FW system on the Output side of Pump! Youroo!!

I haven't notice any difference either. It's just another fitting in the plumbing like all the rest.
