Sam - is there any official position on hanging a TV and leaving it mounted while travelling?

Dear Ependydad; (I always use login names, even though we know each other)
"Official position" is tough. When installed by the consumer there are so many variables. I've always been told 22" was the limit to hang on the bedroom wall. I will ask if there is a weight limit we want to publish.

I can understand the concern. I'm more curious if there is a general take from Sabre of "you should never leave a TV mounted for traveling". I guess if there is something that says, "up to X pounds can be ok hung and left on the wall"- that would alleviate some of my fears.

To all those in question about mounting a tv inside a palomino sabre 5th wheel in the main bedroom.
I should have in good authority a drawing and model year fitment tomorrow as to where the backers are placed with dimensions in a 5th wheel sabre camper.

That will be great. I really would also recommend the magnet to find the plate and outline of the plate (thin aluminum/alloy plate behind the wall) so you can be 100% positive of the location and in case the drawings are off slightly in anyone's install. Having a TV pull out of the wall would not be fun.

Just curious but how will a magnet aid in finding an aluminum plate in the wall?
Anyways the new order sheets for sabres has 24" tvs listed as the options for front bed room and bunkhouses room.
And on the subject of tvs, there is also an optional basement pull out tv.

While I am not positive of the plate type, given that I didn't peel back the wallpaper and paneling to find out, that is why I mentioned aluminum/alloy. The magnet does not attach itself (or stick to the plate) however there is a noticeable difference in the interaction of the magnet and the wall when you reach the edge of the plate while passing over it with a magnet. It is more about feeling the interaction between the magnet and the plate.

Sabre Sam, I own a 2013 Sabre 32RCTS and have an issue with the dining slideout. the black plastic runners on sides of the slidout have been replaced and are coming loose/broken again(see picture). Is this a known issue with this 5th wheel? I advise everyone to check theirs out.

Dear Hutchie,
The picture is a little hard to see. I'm going to PM you my email address. Please try and get me some more pictures from different angles. I will then get them to our warranty department for evaluation. What dealer did the first replacement? Also send me your contact information and vin number in your email. Sorry for the problem.

TV BACKER.PDF
Here is the promised drawing on file from Sabre for the bedroom tv 5th wheel backer placement.
Its unclear the exact model year and what models they started installing the backer and it is Not VIN specific so be fore warned that you may or may not have it place in your unit.
Backer edges can be verified with a strong magnet as to wether its there for sure.
Currently SABRE is installing a 24" tv that weighs no more than 10.8 lbs.
I would defiantly not exceed what sabre is currently using.
I would also defiantly use a high quality mounting bracket and high quality screws to secure your unit.
Your results may vary so defiantly make sure you can mount the bracket SECURELY !~

Thanks Turbs! I would also offer this advice to everyone, if you purchase a mounting bracket from a big box store, you do not want to, nor need to use the mounting screws that come with the bracket. They typically come with 3" - 3.5" screws intended to be drilled and screwed through drywall and into wood studs (2"x4"). The backer that is installed is very, very thin and you do not need 3" screws to mount it securely. I'm sure I am paranoid, but I also did not want to run the risk of accidentally poking through to the exterior fiberglass and creating an even bigger problem. I used 1.5" screws if I remember correctly (which still might have been overkill).
OH Yeah, pre-drill your holes when mounting a TV here. I slowly drilled a very small hole, to make my mark and get an appropriate depth, and then went up to just a size below what the screw require to make it as tight as possible without stripping the threads of the screw.

Mounted mine on the wall to the left of the dresser, pulled antenna plate and saw a stud back there. Used the Travel TV Wall Mount, comes with two mounting plates, the other one us going in my cargo bay.

Sam,
Just wondering if you found any info ? I plan on a bracket that allows me to remove the TV when traveling and also can move the TV outside when needed.

What I am trying to figure out is if my camper actually has the backer or not. It feels solid above the window but would like to be 100% sure before drilling holes in my new camper.

That drawing and info that I posted is from sabre.
The only way to tell if you do is by what I stated in that post.
There is no serial number, model nor year specifically and they can't agree for sure which and when .....
Sorry but you'll have to take measurements and a strong magnet to be sure.

I contacted Gary Grisby, the Sabre warranty manager about mine having one. He said it definitely does. I don't know if that is a model-specific thing or what.
