2017 F250 Diesel

Hello all, is there someone out there towing a 2012 Sabre Fifth wheel around 31' in length with a 2017 Ford F250 Diesel, question is did you have to make changes to the truck or trailer so the bed clearance was acceptable.

Thank You.

I don't have a Sabre, but I have a similar 5th wheel (30'). I went from a 2011 to a 2019 F-250. The '19 sits much higher than the '11 did, yet when I hooked up the first time, it sits perfectly level. The whole truck and trailer looks great. I am at a loss to understand it. I have not actually towed yet, but I am looking forward to seeing how it does without airbags. Both of my previous trucks needed the airbags to help the squat and ride. Here's a picture of my truck all hooked up.

I have a 2018 F-350 and I tow a Sabre 36QBOK-7 and it rides level and I've not done a thing to the truck. It pulls the camper fantastic.

When I bought our 2018 F250, I found that I could not make our 5th wheel work with it. We wound up buying a new one that sits a good 3" higher than the old one.

the old one was 58" to the bottom of the pinbox mount. The new one is 61". When your trailer is level, check that measurement.

If your F250 is 4x4 then you might be a little tall for 31ft 5er towing. Easy fix is to install Correct Track axle alignment from eTrailer.com to raise the camper 2 inches. Additionally you might be able to drop the pinbox then you should be spot on with your height and bed clearance. Keep us posted on your progress.

After measuring the truck bed height (trailer disconnected) from where the wheel touches the ground to the top of the bed my old truck 2005 GMC 2500HD measures 54" while the 2017 F250 measure 59", quit a difference, has anyone had this happened when you purchased a new truck and had any issues.

I can tell you that my truck is about the same additional height difference compared to my '11 F-250. As I said above, I can't explain how my 5th wheel sits so perfect on my new truck. But it does.

EdJunior...when you connected you trailer to the new truck does the truck squat down an amount that makes it look OK.

Yes, the squat levels it out. It rides a bit high in the rear. The dealer offered me a "leveling" kit to level it, but I told him I have a 5th wheel to do that. Looks like I was right more than I thought. But I do still need to see how it actually rides. These concrete roads around here will be a good test.

What size bed do you have, and what kind of hitch did you go with?
