I feel for you guys, I was in this same boat last summer, finally did all the work myself and was I ever pissed at FR, would be nice if a new unit would show up in your driveway, but that would never happen too many people love the product and the corp will still sell them and make bunches of money. In my business (air freight) we will spend 10-30k on delivering a good plane to the customer for his freight if the standby plane went down. it is about keeping the customer very happy, but FR doesn`t care IMO

Wow... I am in absolute awe of this thread. This isn't just an over site. Someone (the buck stops at the top) made a conscious decision that this was a completely acceptable solution. It breaks my heart for the OP's and has left a feeling of absolute disgust for the folks at FR.
I had a small dealing with warranty... Just a small leak around my door window... And after running in circles, I ate the cost myself. Wasn't worth it.
My current camper is my second Forest River product... But truth is... This Sabre instance and my own experience will forever be in the back of my mind when I start looking for my next one. Not saying "I'll never buy Forest River again," but if I'm in a situation where all things being equal, I think I'll roll the dice with another Mfg.

I've been following this thread and my stomach is in a knot.
Hoping this will not turn into a legal issue for you.

Wow...I am sorry you are going through this. I've had two new unit. Both FR (XLR and Palamino Puma). Both had issues, but I was impressed FR stepped up and took care of them through a local dealer. I'm a little concerned the last repair was done after my season was over. The warranty dept mentioned sending the unit back to the factory. They wanted it in March and that's when I began my season (late march/april). They agreed to extend the warranty for that issue to allow me time to camp with it after the weather changes.
Man I'm like the rest sick to my stomach over your story. A friend of mine just trade a nearly new (kept 10 months) FR unit because of issues. I certainly hope they do right by you.

This just plain stinks. I feel so sorry for the both of you. What's really sad is they either knowingly did a poor job and hoped you wouldn't notice, or they did what they thought was "doing it right" and that's their accepted level of quality....Not sure which is worse. Now that every bit of good will that they regained from your trip to the factory has been used up and then some, nothing they do now to "fix" the problem will restore your confidence in them and make you whole....They need to just cut their losses and either give you a new trailer or a full refund. Period. Those would be my only two options. Like PlatoKidd said, if that is not on the table, walk away and have your attorney do the talking. I truly hope you both get the outcome you deserve.

This is a classic example of why you should buy a used rig about 4 or 5 years old. The original owner will have suffered though all this crap, finally got it fixed, but is so fed up of all the hassle that he just wants out.
We bought a used Georgetown from the original owner who had developed medical issues that kept him close to his medical support team. His wife was in tears when we drove the rig away. We have had zero problems, except those self inflicted ones (not exercising the generator because I was laid up after cardiac surgery).
Unfortunately, we're finding the cost of ownership and user-ship far outweigh our ability to fund them. It's highly probable that our GT will be on the market by early May.

I went the used route first and had nothing but problems with the older camper. I had A/C issues, circuit board in furnace burned up and had to be replaced. Then came the water issues from it not sitting under a covered garage. The local dealer and repair shop said the rubber roofs may last 8 years tops sitting out in the elements and being backed in the sun.
This is why I choose to order a new 2014. Hopefully I won't have these same issues. I feel terrible for the OP but again for every bad one like this I would bet there are 20 that haven't had issues. The problem you get on these forums is the happy campers don't chime in with positive comments.
I hope you guys get this worked out. Mine hasn't even started down the assembly line yet.
I would jump p and down until they gave me a new unit. At some point I think an Attorney may be appropriate. However, forest river is a Berkshire Hathaway company so your attorneys will be met head on with their corporate legal council.
Either way you look at it this is a bad spot to be in.

Bought our first Forest River a year ago this March. A small simple 2306. Had a few minor issues which I fixed my self. Then a tree limb went through the roof and we quickly discovered our dealer, Out of Doors Mart, was horrible. They lied, ripped us and the insurance company off and covered up with more lies and incredibly crappy work. They even broke things that were fine like bending down the over door so it won't completely close now.
There is an RV show today In Greensboro and from our problems with the dealer and reading all of the horror stories about Forest River products, we WON'T be looking at Forest River at the show.

I dont buy this statement, our 5er is the 3rd brand new unit we owned since 2006 the first 2 campers had not 1 thing wrong with them, one was a travellodge, the other coachman both were in the teen range on price, and this unit is in the 40`s and full of issues

Quality , workmanship or lack of it is almost industry wide. Can happen to any of them. From what I hear Airstream has the best quality. But they cost 3 to 4 times more. Looked at a 28 ft tt at the chicago show.$90,000 But then again theres not much eye candy bells or whistles with them. Hmm now that I think of it I had 3 starcrafts (77,89&98)popups no probs.
Sure hope they take care of OP!!!

Had a typo in my previous post and now too late to edit. So will fix it here. "bending down the over door". meant OVEN door.

This is funny because when I read your post I read it as OVEN and not OVER. I had to go back and look at that post before I could believe you had a typo.
