To be honest, I don't know. But, I know that there are a hundred different computer makers - you pick the right one for the job. There has to be technical reasons why they would vary the types of slides. One is likely expected to be better at one thing vs. another.

It's not kickbacks- both are Lippert products. The rack & pinion slide mechanism come pre-built with the frame chassis ( link to image of a chassis showing a slide).

I think that it looked good on paper and performed well in a cad simulation and a perfect clean environment. Alot of engineering is this way. Engineers plan on everything in perfect environments. In th real world with leaves, dirt daubers, dust accumulation and a host of changing environments, these "next great things" arnt always as good as the "old " way.
GM had the same issues on rear brakes on their large truck and suv lines from the '99 model year to '05 on rear disc brakes. Disc brakes worked real good and stopped great.....but once dirt (ie. Driving on dirt/gravel roads) was introduced the rear discs would eat pads up very quickly. I have changed out rear pads at a ratio of 3-1, 3 sets of rears to 1 set of fronts due to this. Imagine a truck driving on dirt roads, whoda thunk? I think they have since made some changes to gain better results on rear discs, but GM went back to rear drums for a while till they figured it out.
****disclaimer not every vehicle may have experienced these issues or had the drum changes, so dont wear me the nit picky please****

I just need a camper that works, a nice fire and a cold beer. What more could you ask for.

After reading this thread, I have to agree with you. If we are ever in the same campground, you can bet the first couple rounds are on me

I think after all you have gone through with this stuff, you deserve a case of beer or two.

Thanks guys, good info as always...
And I don't 'think' I have the Schwintecs on my QBOK???? That photo showing the side does not look familiar, but I will need to confirm next trip out...

Well, on Saturday we thought we were very close to a resolution. Here we are on Tuesday night, and still no final solution. Forest River has agreed that something has to be done but they are not sure how to go about it. They have agreed in principal to make it right - but that term is wide open to interpretation. I just assumed that "right" meant the same thing to FR as it did to me.......
So we just keep waiting and hoping for good news.....

Would they tell you the range of options they are considering?

Yes, Narboza - they have told us several options they are considering. The problem is that this is now in the hands of upper management and we are not "in" on those discussions. They have told us that they have the right to do some things that are more to our favor than others - but won't make an actual bona-fide offer. We feel that whatever they offer we still have the right to negotiate if we are not satisfied by the terms of their deal...but right now we are just anxious to hear their firm offer. I do feel like they have listened to our concerns, and I do feel "heard" but it remains to be seen if that benefits me

When I worked for a big home builder, I worked my way up to the management team...middle management but hey, i got to wear loafers and nice slacks, no more work boots and dockers.
I had construction guys, sales and warranty people under my supervision. If there was a warranty problem that my staff couldn't handle, I'd step in to make it right. If the warranty person had more than one unsatisfied customer, he'd be looking for work. If a warranty issue ever went above me to "upper management", I would have been looking for work. I can't see how this is so hard for them. Customer loyalty and referrals are invaluable. They need to ask themselves how they would like to be treated if the situation was reversed and act accordingly. It's really that simple. That's how I ran things and never had an issue. Hopefully they will see the light.
