"NEW" Sabre
Went to the Tampa RV show a few weeks ago and stopped by to check out the new Sabre's. WOW, I could not believe what I saw, my 2012 is what I would consider a mid level and all of the new ones are definitely entry level at best.

That's what our dealer told us, more entry level now to meet a lower price point for the masses. But still moving 'em off the lot so somebody wins. We will also keep the 2014 Sabre. Upgrade the suspension, furniture and entry steps and go camping!

I heard that the Sabre was in direct competition with Columbus so F.R. took them out of the Palomino lineup.

I too looked at the new Sabres. I was not impressed at all. I have a 2013 34REQS-6, and thought about trading in for a new model. Well that's not going to happen. The new Sabres in my opinion are cheap. They're low quality, and definitely don't deserve to bare the Sabre name. I will go elsewhere when i upgrade.

According to the Columbus rep the sabre was given to FR because there was someone FR (i forget the name) that wanted to try their hand at fivers. Palomino grave up sabre to them since they were making the Columbus Compass which is supposed to be competition. Honestly though the new sabre is more entry level whereas the compass is more midlevel.
New sabres are showing at the $35k price point. Looking at rvtrader and other sales sites, 2014 sabres are selling for about $32-35k. Shows you the difference in quality. Other big difference than trim is 2014 and older sabres have aluminum frame. 2015 and newer are wood frame.

Fairly certain my 2015 Sabre has an all aluminum frame. Better, that's one of the main reasons I liked Sabre.

The transition occurred in Summer 2015 so I guess those would likely be labeled as 2016 models. We saw them building them at the factory.

Compare the above pics to this picture of earlier Sabres with the aluminum cage.

Asquared, they both look like they have aluminum studs in the exterior walls and wooden studs in the interior walls. The difference is the wooden rafters in the new models.

The aluminum rafters in the old ones made it a cage. The current sabres have more wood than aluminum. We watched them being built. You could see the quality change. So sad.

I think we got one of the last ones that was still built with the aluminum cage. We even have the sticker that says so right by our door. When we bought our QBOK the dealer had 3 or 4 other Sabres on the lot. I know one of them was a TBOK that we walked through but didn't like because we wanted 4 bunks.
We went back and talked to our salesman a few months later and they only had one Sabre left. We asked when they would be getting the newer ones in and he said they decided to quit carrying them because the quality had gone down.

X 2 On the same tour with ASquared.
The Sabre division is being run by a Manager from a Bus Division.
They had many QC issues an decided to go a different route with a new client base.

This is the exact same thing my dealer said as to why they no longer carry the Sabre line.

We're keeping our 2013 also. It was still made by Palomino. They cheapened up the new ones. SABRE and Columbus were built almost the same so Forest River started making the Sabres under just the Forest River name. This was done to make the Columbus stand out as the Mid Level unit and Sabre the entry level unit. The old Sabres are a better built unit.

The "SABRE CAGE" is a thing of the past. What a shame. 🤐
