sabre 34REQS

I have some questions for others with the same model as us. We have the 2014 Sabre 34REQS that we purchased this past July. Since we purchased it we have had lots of issues and sent it back to the factory. It returned from the factory on Thursday still with things not repaired. My question relates to the things they are telling me are normal. First is we can see daylight in the top corners of the bedroom closet on both sides. How is that normal? Can you see daylight there too? I worry about a leak there but the factory says no leak is present. The other thing is a dent in the fender skirt on the trailer where the left side of the kitchen slide meets the trailer. This dent is exactly the same shape as the hose that was pinched in the slide at this exact spot. We replaced and rerouted the hose before it went back to the factory because it had created a hole in the hose and subsequently a propane leak. They say the dent is normal and belongs there. Does yours have this dent?

There are still a few things in need of repair but they did address the majority of the 40 items on our list when it was shipped to them. Oh and for those of you having trouble with the pins not fitting on your bike rack, they replaced our bike rack (we had cracks in the welds too) and the pins now fit in both positions.

Same model but a year older. No daylight seen in the top corners of the bedroom closet on either side of ours. I wouldn't think it would be normal. Either something is way too thin up there allowing light in or there is some kind of leak/gap. Never noticed any dent in the kitchen slide but to be honest I never looked that hard for one.

That's exactly what I was thinking. This shouldn't be normal.

Really odd that that dent (which they say is normal) is in the exact same place as where the hose was pinched.

Are you seeing the front cap or actually daylight? To me neither one is right as the front cap should have the radiant barrier and some insulation.

I would want them to show me other campers where you can see daylight or they should even trade you when you find one that is not that way.

Either way it a huge loss of heat or cooling depending on the season.

I can't get a good picture of it but what I see in the front closet is light when it is daylight out. It is coming from the corner seam. I do supposedly have the upgraded insulation package.

The dent isn't on the slide itself, it's on the trailer fender skirt where the slide contacts the trailer upon closing.

We sent a list of 40 things wrong with it to the factory and that didn't include what had already been repaired by the dealership. Some things were very minor trim work and others were major like the slides being way out of square and all of my slide seals destroyed. And lots of things in between. They sent something's back say I.g they fixed them but didn't ie we still have a 30 amp plug cover on a 50 amp plug that was marked as exchanged. They didn't fix my broken window latch. They did do a nice job fixing my kitchen cupboards and my shower. They left the bar cabinet door open so when the sofa slide was opened it caught on the door and caused the slide to go sideways and pull the slide trim away from the wall. They didn't latch the closet doors for the return trip allowing them to slide and jostle during the trip. My closet door and door frame are now Chipped and the door is not only off track but angled really strangely. Part of the door is now broken too.

Quick question asquared......how has the dealer been to work with during your extensive repairs? I ask because we just purchased a new trailer from the same dealer you did and it should arrive mid February. Thanks!

We purchased from Bill plemmons in Raleigh. Wells is the service manager there. He was extremely helpful until he went out for medical reasons, the service writer that was watching things while he was out was not very helpful (I think his name was Chris). While Wells was out I ended up contacting Gary at Sabre directly and skipping the middle man. I have not been back in contact with plemmons/wells since I have been dealing with Gary at Sabre.

If wells is back and you deal with him directly, he will take good care of you. Friday of labor day weekend was when we discovered the propane hose issue as we were packing up to leave. He stayed late after closing shop to try and help talk us through a fix via phone. In August the bedroom slide sheared away from the floor cutting the wiring as well. we couldn't get the slide to close, he patiently talked us through disassembling the bed and how to disassemble the slide motor so we could push it back in and brace it closed. He got us in to the shop for repairs right away and has it back to us within two weeks. He also replaced our nonfunctional microwave and got a repair approved for the cracked fiberglass shower. The only reason the shower was not repaired at that time was he was trying to find someone qualified to do the repair properly and not hold up our camping season. Also the day we picked up our fiver we were on their lot for over 5 hours while Wells and one of his service techs stayed hours post service closing to make repairs before we would accept the fiver. So yes, you are in good hands with them.
