Sabre customers hauling with F250 6.2 gasser
Quick question for you 5th wheel users. We own a 2016 Sabre 33CKTS (dry weight 10,600 LBS.) which we pull with a 2015 F250 6.2 gasser. Loaded adds another 400 to 500 LBS. Truck pulls the Sabre great on the straight and hilly highways and country roads getting to State Parks. So far we have travelled out as far 350 miles from home with no issues. As the DW and I near our next phase of life, I am asking my fellow FR brethern how far and what elevation have you traveled to with similar equipment? And for the record, Indiana has a wonderful State Park system that you are welcome to visit.

I have the 34REQS and tow with a 1 ton diesel. 10,800 lbs dry weight. Loaded the 34REQS comes in at 12380 lbs with a pin weight of 2620 lbs per catscales. I have taken it through VA and NC Mountains from NC to Goshen was our farthest trip with it. The Goshen trip was 1300 miles round trip and had a combination of highways, back roads, flat land and mountains. The diesel made the trip easy. Very glad I had it. As for your rig... if it is towing comfortably and within weights I would say you are good.

Op...doubt you'll have a problem. But.....i bet the constant downshifting and fuel economy will make you upgrade to a diesel in the future.
I hadn't had truck that wasn't diesel in over 8 years and bought a gas half-ton a few weeks ago. (i still have my new Gmc 3500 diesel)
Im pretty disappointed in how much it downshifts on hills when empty. It actually seemed better when i went from the 17" wheels to 22" wheels. Probably the extra rotating mass that helps with momentum.
I had a 8500 puma before my current 12,000+ sabre. I couldn't imagine using a gasser on either.
If your comfortable though, then run with it!

As long as you are under your gross combined weight rating you can travel anywhere in the country safely.

I tow a Silverback 29IK with a 2015 GMC Sierra 6.2 gasser, have been from Northeast Pa to South Carolina 3 times through the mountains or West Virginia and Tenn. with no issues. To upstate New York and Western Pa as well
Silverback is 11,600 dry, with the right gears the truck is rated at 14,600.

We have a 2013 Sabre 34REQS - 6 dry weight 10700lbs. With all our gear that probably adds another 1000lbs. We tow with a Chevy 2500HD crewcab diesel. We live in western NY and have been to Maine 3 times traveled through the mountains of NH, and Vermont. To the Aderondacks of NY. To Michigan, and the upper peninsula. Traveled to Florida via Pa. WV. VA. NC. SC. through the Appalachians. And my truck never had a problem with any of the terrain.

Hello
We too have a 33CKTS, which we love, but it is a 2014. We tow with an F250 - gas as well. Last year we travelled from our home in Ontario to Nova Scotia via Eastern States. We took a new route ... was interesting to say the least ... we ended up at 6653 ft in the White mountains. It was a little scary at some points but we made it ... up and down. Did not wear out the brakes ... after some thought, my husband starting coming down the mountain in 4 x 4 low ... a friend who is a trucker, told us that constant steady pressure on the brakes was the way to go, as opposed to off and on ... As I said, twas an interesting trip, with a few "Holy S***" moments ... from us and people coming up the mountain towards us ... LOL
Gas mileage was not that bad, so my husband says ... was getting about 400 - 450 miles per tank ... we like travelling through the USA ... gas so much cheaper for us, even with the exchange rate and for some reason we get much better gas mileage with American Gas ...
Heading to Indiana in late August early September to visit friends.
Safe travels
Cheers

Not only is your fuel mileage not so good but wait until you have to replace those 22" tires!!

Fuel mileage is the same. Quality 22" truck tires aren't any more than quality 17" truck tires. About $225-300 a piece.
Im in the automotive business so tires and wheels sell a vehicle!

I think you mean 6.0 V8, jack&joanne. The 6.2 is only available in the 1/2 ton....just sayin'!

We pull our Sabre 32 RCTS with a 5.7 L Hemi Ram and have been doing so for 4 years with out issue. I think the 32 RCTS is a bit smaller than the 33ckts, but not by much. We've checked weights a couple of times including once using the service available at the Goshen rally and are well with in all limits. We ordered the RAM with towing in mind and equipped it accordingly.
We've camped in 23 states from east coast to as far west as Colorado and Wyoming with no problem. Our longest trip so far was last winter... 5,500 mi in 4 mo. (next winter will be longer)
There have been only a few times we wished we had more power when stopped on a pretty steep grade and had to accelerate from a dead stop. We just took it a little slower and were fine. Our Mileage ranges from 9 to almost 12 mpg with cruising average between 10 and 11. Max speed for us is usually around 55-60. We find that most comfortable.

100% agreed.
Constant pressure will cause brake fade. It will overheat and warp the rotors.

Sabre customers hauling with F250 6.2 gasser
I pulled my 32 ft 5th wheel on an 8000 mile trip from Texas to California, Oregon,Washington,Idaho,Montana,North Dakota,Michigan with a 2012 f250 6.2. It did OK but several times was in 2nd gear and screaming. Mileage around 7.
Traded for a Duramax and find towing is much more enjoyable.

Sorry, but that is hard to believe. That would be 13.5 mpg if you completely used all 35 gallon capacity of the large fuel tank.
