Sabre heading back to factory

I picked up my sabre 36QBOK-7 from the dealer last week only to find out it was going to have to make a trip to the factory. My dealer found a crack in the fiberglass in the bottom left corner of the front slide opening. It's on the body of the camper not the slide itself. It's just beside where the yellow stickers are on the unit, they fixed the crack and after moving it around the shop it came right back. The factory said it would have to come back to them to see what's causing it to keep cracking. There are a few other issues they will fix at the factory as well. One is where my bedroom slide came in the drawers under the bed rubbed against the dresser and made a large indention and rub the finish off the drawer. They will replace the drawer. Also the window at my dinette is messed up. I have the frameless windows. There is a 1/4" gap at the top of the 2 windows and they touch at the bottom. So they don't open and close right. Dealer says they will replace these at the factory.

They say for me to camp in it and after camping season to drop it off at the dealer and they will send it to the factory for repair, Unless the crack gets bigger in which case I will have to send it back sooner.

For you guys that's sent yours back, what's the turn around time for repair? If I send it first week of January, I hope I have it back by March for our Disney World Trip.

Last summer we sent our Windjammer back for a wall crack (not in the slide but the actual off door side wall) and it was in August. We had it back in three weeks. Only problem was a water pump didn't work when it came back but we didn't realize it until our Labor Day weekend trip out when we got it back. FR stood behind it and a local dealer fixed that in two days. I was not under warranty at the time but FR took care of all of it.

That time of the season, factory is ramping up getting units out for the spring rush...I'd make sure to stay on top of their progress to get it back in time for March!

Sabre is coming out with 7 new floor plans this fall so they'll be ramping up production for the new models.
Crack be damned I'd have it back ASAP and not even use it in my opinion.
There's possibly a frame issue here and I wouldn't hesitate to get it to them.

Please keep us posted and updated about this.

We sent our Columbus back back in mid February and we had already booked a Disney Wilderness site for June. We sweated bullets, and calling weekly. The job was a 1 week job. They rushed it for us, and we got it back two weeks before we were to depart. Snow, ice, flooding, worker walkouts, we heard it all.

They say it will take 6 weeks. We have several trips planned in September, October and then late December. I may send it back after our Halloween trip and see if I can get it back b4 December 26th.

I was just thinking about you the other day and wondering how your repairs were coming along. I'm happy to see them taking it back after all the issues you told me about. I would skip the fall trips and get it in now for that crack. I wouldn't sit on that.

I've decided to send the camper back in September. I will keep you posted. I hope to talk with the warranty guy at Sabre before sending it to them to get a time line on the repairs.

Yup. I've got a sidewall crack at the lower front corner of the bedroom slide as well. Hasn't been fixed yet. Until our list trip, it was small enough that the slide outer fascia covered it so it had been on the after season list. It grew a bit so I need to find a shop willing to repair. Very Interested in pirates55 outcome!

That was the very biggest thing that I worked on/talked with Gary when mine went back and turned into the debacle that it was. The length of time was immaterial, it was getting a schedule and being able to realistically live up to it. It wasn't until my whole factory return went nuclear were we able to hammer out a day-by-day schedule and they hit it.

I'm hopeful that they're better able to give estimates on pickup time, fix time, and return/delivery time.

I strongly suggest you winterize it yourself before sending it back. I think it would also be prudent to turn off the electric side to the water heater at the water heater itself (in addition to inside).

I agree with Youroo that once it is back in your possession that you take it to a truck wash to rinse the undercarraige and clean it up well. I didn't.

Gary and Sabre are good people. They'll take care of you!

My camper is in the shed. When I pull it out I will take a picture. My crack is in the same place as what JTstromburg described. My dealer fixed it and it came right back. They said the only way to stop a crack in fiberglass is to drill a small home in front of it and then channel it out, fill it will fiberglass and repaint it. They did all that and the crack came right back. So I'm going to go ahead and get it address sooner than later.

Dealer says they will probably put a new side on the camper since there is a seam a few feet in front of the crack.
