Washer/ Dryer Options

Morning All,
I am looking into installing the washer and dryer combo (1 unit) in my 2014 35QSIK. The prep work is already done.

I am wondering, can a small Apartment unit fit in the space or do we have to go to an RV specific unit? There is a huge price difference between the two!

Let me know if it has been done before!

Thanks!

Something else to consider is whether to go with a vented or vent-less setup. We got the RV combo vent-less machine in our 2014 32RCTS-6 and were not happy at all. Took way to long to dry and filled the bedroom with warm damp air.
Got home and pulled it out and sold it. We will do the laundromat and be done sooner and the rig is a little lighter now!

......and usually are just a little too big for the dimensions of the closet it is to go in.

The ventless units take too long drying as noted. The combo units don't usually do well either which are typically ventless and 120V. Not a lot of good solutions on the market yet.....

An Alternate Idea??

We've given this a lot of thought and in fact almost had a combo installed in our 32 RCTS when we were at Lazy Days last Jan...but after reading lots of comments on this forum and after studying the Spledid owners manual, we decided against it. We think the washer is fine but too many negative comments about drying time and wrinkles. Many told us they would only partially dry, then hand up to finish.

We thought about just getting the washer, but then we decided to buy a less expensive (and smaller) washer we'd seen at Menards. (Haier HLP21N) It only cost $250 and because it's smaller were able to keep some shelf space plus room for a hamper. The capacity is about 1/2 to 2/3 of the Splendid depending how you load it. I did have to build a water mixing manifold because the washer doesn't have water temp control. We've used it on 3 or 4 trips and so far, we are very happy with our decision.

Here are a few pics of the project.
