2017 Sunseeker MBS water filter model
We ordered a 2017 Sunseeker MBS 2400R and should be picking it up in early October. Does anyone know what on-board water filter model is coming with the new units? Our Flagstaff had the infamous FR1 which has been known to blow off the canister when you least expect it. If it is the same, I will have the dealer remove it and just use the outside the rv filter that I have now.
We live in Connecticut but are picking it up in Ohio and are taking all of our camping gear with us to leave from there for our "shake down" cruise. We will be camping near the dealer until all of the bugs are out of the new unit. (I am hoping that there won't be too many.) I don't want to carry the filter equipment with us if I won't need it. We have enough stuff to pack without taking extra.

I removed mind from MBS 2401R. It would be so messy for servicing this filter.

Raptor, I agree and will probably use my outside filter also. Do you remember what model filter it was? Inquiring minds want to know.
Thanks

Raptor, That's great, thank you very much. I was hoping for that model.
I will probably still remove it eventually, it's in a lousy location, but at least I don't have to worry about it blowing off on my first trip. There are enough problems with a new unit to think about.

We've used it for over 7000 mi. and 29 nights on the road and never an issue. The location isn't the most convenient but never had any trouble getting it in or out either for winter and spring chores.

I am glad this thread was started. I am going to remove and bypass mine next. I see it as a fail point as well. And I always filter before it enters the RV so it isn't needed. Will make winterizing easier too!

Mine is under the sink in the bathroom, and at this point I see no reason to remove it. It is pretty easy to service it.

People are going to do what they are going to do, but this is only partially true. Under this method, the water coming out of the FW tank is not filtered. It's only filtered going into the tank. If the tank is pristine clean, it's not an issue. But if any organisms or other impurities are in the tank, they will not filter out. Some people say it doesn't matter to them because they don't drink it (which also means don't feed to pets, or use for cooking unless fully boiled).

I was always so sick from food or water every times I went to southeast Asia. My wife said I'm too clean (filter this and filter that). May be germs would do some good for me? I'm not a doctor just having fun

Good point about coming from the tank. We only use our tank for showers and flushing. We keep water for cooking and coffee separate. So that works for us.
