79d Display Message

We have a 2015 Forester MBS on a 2014 chassis. This message came on when we started the engine today: "79d, plus the wrench icon"
Couldn't find any info in the manual nor hits on the web. We added a bit of Def hoping it would go off...no luck. We have about 14,600 miles on it. Last oil change was at 8,000 miles.

Anyone else know what this might be?

Thank you!

Could it be counting down days until your next oil change? My 2014 chassis wants an oil change at least every two years and has a count down of the days remaining. But I can't remember exactly what that countdown looked like...

The countdown went away after I changed the oil and did the service reset procedure.

This is from the MBS Maintenance booklet. The "R" would be the wrench symbol.

Vehicles without steering wheel buttons:
the following messages may be displayed.
R¯for service A
R°for Service B
Additionally, you will see the remaining
distance in miles (mi) or kilometers (km) or the
remaining time in days (d).
Service due date has been exceeded
Vehicles with steering wheel buttons: if
you have missed the service due date, one of
the following messages appears in the display
and warning tone also sounds.
R¯Service A overdue by ... days
R¯Service A overdue by ... mi
(km)
Vehicles without steering wheel buttons:
if you have missed the service due date, the
¯or°symbol for the service flashes
for 10 seconds after the ignition is switched
on. A minus sign also appears in front of the
service due date.
Calling up the service due date
X Turn the key to position 2 in the ignition
lock.
The display is activated.
Vehicles without steering wheel buttons
X Press the 4 menu button on the
instrument cluster repeatedly until the
¯or°symbol for the service
appears in the display.
Additionally, you will see the remaining
distance in miles (mi) or kilometers (km) or
the remaining time in days (d).

This is the best explanation. experienced before but never worry about it, FIVE2MH.

We installed the Goodyear Hybrids from Costco. $7.99 normally, sometimes on sale for $3.00 less. They work well and have the correct adapter for the MB wiper arm.

Thank you, KP! We will look for those. The manual doesn't give a part number and advises to have new blades installed by an authorized dealer.

Don't hold me to this - but I think the driver's side was 26" and the pax side 24". Take a tape measure to verify before you purchase.

The manuals always tell you to take it to an authorized dealer for everything. Dealers survive on parts and service - so big $$$ for them!
