Try opening the overhead grate in the dining area when you go to bed and close the sliding door. Make sure the bedroom overhead register is not pointing at the thermostat.

Have been in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas the past month with our MBS and have used my 13.5 AC extensively. Set the fan on lo and temp at 74 or 75. Can hardly hear the compressor kicking in and out but the fan is quite noisy.
