Air bag recall?

Has anyone heard any more on the Takata air bag recall? Last I heard was back in April last year when I received a recall notice. I did see on the news this week that Takata is looking at filing bankruptcy, if they do what happen with the recall? ?

Nothing should happen. The vehicle manufacturer would still be on the hook. What may happen is manufacturers might have a parts problem but they would have to solve that somehow. Just because a company files bankruptcy does not neccesarily mean they're are out of business regardless.

Just wish they'd get with it and start replacing these things, Lot of people driving vehicles that could injure or kill them and the companies are dragging their feet.

I've wondered about that also I heard there was a recall but never got a notice on it. Maybe I don't have a bad one. 2016 sunseeker 24s

So far most of the costs associated with the recall have been paid for by the auto manufacturers.

Relative to our various MBS products, things don't look great. If you poke around in their "Completion Rates" section you can get specific data by vehicle manufacturer. For us, the manufacturer of interest is "Daimler Vans USA LLC" which is responsible for all US Sprinters, including Dodge and Freightliner.

Here's their info:
Quote:
Driver-side Air Bags Repaired - Not Applicable
2,059 (4.45%) Passenger-side Air Bags Repaired
2,059 (4.45%) Total Air Bags Repaired
From this, it looks like maybe it's only the passenger side? Or maybe not.

In any case, it looks like Sprinters are lagging far behind as the overall completion rate is over 70%. It also looks like we're in a collection of about 50,000 vehicles which need to be fixed.

(Also...according to the details in the "Vehicles Affected" section, it appears that some 2017 Sprinters may be involved. Kinda seems hard to believe...)
