Another Airbag Recall

I just received another notice for an airbag recall, this time for the passenger side. The parts aren't available yet, so another notice will be sent out when they are. I've put more miles on my rig this year so far driving it back and forth to the Mercedes dealer than I have camping. Had I known this recall was coming, I would have waited to get them both replaced at the same time.

Edit: I see this is already being discussed in another ongoing Airbag thread, sorry for the redundant post.

No problem here the more info the better. I have to drive 160 miles for initial recall and got the same letter. Will make a trip to Oregon Coast our if it.

Just got the driver side bag replaced Thursday, even though the passenger side recall is outstanding. Could have waited, but wanted at least one defective airbag replaced. Besides, there is a beautiful state trout park (Roaring River near Cassville, MO) that we stay at because it is located halfway between our residence and the dealer, which is a 2 hour drive each way.
I don't mind the recalls, since it gives me a great excuse to go trout fishing!
Besides, there is NO reason to gripe about the airbag recalls. Not Mercedes fault. Just be happy that you are getting it fixed, even if it is one at a time.

If you happen to live in Central Oregon, check with Beaver Coach Sales, in Bend, Or, to see when they will be having Mercedes of Eugene back at their facility to do airbag recalls. They just had them there a few weeks ago, and it seems about 40 units were worked on. Saves a long drive over the hill for 40 minutes of work performed.

Here's what my dealer told me about the passenger side air bag recall:

"Yes you will be getting a letter when parts become available. They have some passenger side air bags for some years and for the other year models they are still waiting for parts (yours is one of them). Keep an eye out in the mail and then call me once you get the letter and I can order one for you, takes two days to come in. "

I feel your pain. Our truck is 13 years old and we just got the "parts are now available to replace your airbag" letter. You wouldn't think it should take 13 years to get all the bugs out of a vehicle.
