Back up monitor

My monitor for the back up camera sometimes will not get a picture but just flashes. Anybody had this problem and if so what was the solution?
Thanks

Recently, we have had the same problem with our RVS camera system. It would work fine for the first 5-10 minutes (I turn the rear camera on while driving - it helps me with situational awareness and when passing), but then the monitor would go blank and flash. Same things when triggered by the turn signals. I assume it's the same as what you are describing.

I talk to the tech rep at RVS. She was very helpful and we went through several troubleshooting steps. Her diagnosis was a failed/failing monitor. I bought a new one from them online along with the multiplexer, just in case it was that instead. Part number for monitor RVS-619N and multiplexer RVS-501N. Their website is here

Of course this happened one month out of the 12 month warranty...

Thanks for the link, KatanaPilot. My monitor recently read 'no signal' when I started the RV. Tried all troubleshooting options, but it wouldn't work. The next trip, worked just fine! Mine is also just out of waranty.

Back up monitor

Thanks Kantana pilot, I have contacted them via email and they gave me a phone number to call. My warranty expired on 3/3/16. We hadn't had the motorhome out on a trip since October and of course didn't realize that there was a problem.
Thanks again.

Check for loose wiring and loose grounding (which I guess is a sub-category of loose wiring...). Also corroded connections of course.

Rear Camera - it is what it is

Now that I have used the camera in the daytime and night time for a while - and researched how it works - I no longer think it has a problem, it's just a long way from the roof to the ground at night, and the camera can only light up so much area with infra-red.

At night, as long as you don't have any 'light' at the rear of the RV, the camera should display a B/W image. As soon as any appreciable amount of light appears in the camera's field-of-view, you can see it flip to a Color image, and the new light source can improve the image greatly.

I was thinking about adding two super-powerful white LED's to the lower slope of the rear bumper - on either side, and wire them in to the backup wiring. I think they would give me a much better picture when backing up in the dark. HOWEVER, until I re-do the CURT CONTROLLER location, I'll hold off on that particular upgrade...

back up camera

Actually I am new to this site and actually have a question on the backup camera.

My question is that my back up camera comes on when I stick it in reverse. (I suppose that's what its suppose to do) However I would like to see my toad vehicle while towing it. Any ideas?
