At home we rarely lose signal with our HD dish. It has to be a HUGE storm, and even then it's only for a few minutes. Wind (which we have a lot of) never affects signal. I did put my dish on a weighted platform on the ground where it is protected by a fence, but can still see all the satellites.

All the years I lived in Denver with DirecTV...every time it rained or snowed hard we'd loose our signal!

And we had a clean shot to the sky...no trees blocking the way!
