Cracked air filter housing

Upon checking the condition of the air filter I discovered the lower part of the housing was cracked all the way across. We are fortunate to have a Sprinter repair facility 30 minutes away. They inspected it and said they have never seen that happen before and neither did I. They ordered the part and will install it next week. I am curious if anyone else experienced this.

What the dealer says is not important, it's really all about if they stand behind their product and fix it no charge. It's all bla bla bla to them .I just noticed I am missing the bolt that secures the top of the oil fill tube to the bracket. That was obviously missed at the factory during manufacture. I'm guessing my local stealer would say the same thing too, bla bla bla.

Recently, I had much of my federal emissions system replaced, Nox, def nozzle, SCR. If you read up on that, their are design flaws causing cracks in the ceramic parts of the Nox sensors, caused by (it's believed) the way the DEF is introduced into the process to clean up the exhaust. They made an attempt to try and charge me a couple hundred for a cracked support bracket, which MB admits they have been redesigned. So, after a go around, they just backed off. Like I said, bla bla bla.Sony Bono said it best, "and the beat goes on".

All fixed now. The Sprinter shop replaced it in less than an hour. No cost. It is still a mystery though of how that happened.

That is an odd one. I had a 2008 which I just sold and did not have this issue. I did have to replace a starter and a pcv valve during that time however.
