Resistors - Placement-wireing

I created a heat sink board (see photo) and test wired in the resistor for left turn.

Still have hyper flash?

Resistors were wired in-line upstream of Hopkins Controller.

Question- does the heat sink board need to be grounded? Is that the likely problem?

Resistors need to be wired from incoming wire to ground - not “inline”. Resistors need to simulate a bulb to load the incoming line.

Wiring Resistors

Does that mean there is a T or Y in the wiring?

IE Line In to resistor and to controller

Resistor out to ground?

2012 Solera 24 S Replace tailight Circuit Board with Hopkins

All, Thanks for your help. Job is complete and works just fine.

Didn't make sense to go back to old circuit board for almost $500 plus wait for it to be made. Forest River has changed the deisgn twice since then so I updated to the most current approach and saved about $380.

Installed a Hopkins 21146375 Pulse width modulator for $81.00, A HELLA relay 007794301 $10.00, plus pigtail $21.00 to power the backup lights, and two resistors uxcell 2pcs 50W 10 ohm Load Resistor, one for left and right turn signals for $8.00.

I also installed a fuse block $18. and fused each light so that if one blows, the fuse goes and not the circuit board (now pulse width modulator) like before.

It is a tight fit in the orginal space behind the facia board at the back of the shelf where your extenal power cord is stowed. Here are a few pics of install.

Wiring Info

I made this chart to keep track of Wiring.

Column 1 original wiring into circut board,

Column 2 -The coresponding input to Hopkins controller colors,

Column 3 - The output from the Hopkins to my fuse panel,

Column 4 - The wiring for the backup light relay (Hella),

Column 5 - the output from fuse box to tail lights,

No guarantee your colors will match my Solera 2012 24S wiring. Good luck.
