EGR valve cleaning

For those of you that have removed and cleaned the EGR valve, what mileage was your first cleaning and how often do you look at it? Just cleaned mine today at 25,600 miles.

Thanks for your reply. Mine had problems in Canada. Idle stalled a couple of times, transmission shifted weird, and went into limp mode a couple of times. Ran good when we got back to states. Mercedes shop said not to bring it in if there was no engine light. After cleaning the EGR, it runs like new. Just got back from Kanab Utah with no issues. I was thinking about checking it in another 10k.

Cleaned mine at 20,000. Did not look bad. I do a lot of highway driving and limit idling. Not sure if that affects the carbon buildup. I would recommend to check and clean every 30k, unless you have problems of course.
